A/c gets warm then cold again

The a/c in the truck works great for about 10 minutes then goes warm. Somedays it stays cold the whole time. Could it be a switch or a freon problem??

You seem to have one of two problems going on. It could be that you're low on freon or your expansion valve (called this instead of H-Valve, Accumulator and so on and so forth), has gone bad. What's happening is the expansion valve is not metering the freon or monitoring it. Your Evaporator inside your vehicle is becoming so cold without the A/C compressor cycling or shutting off that after a few minutes of ice cold air, the evaporator becomes so cold that it literally becomes a block of ice whereby the fan cannot blow through the Evaporator anymore for it's now ice due to the fact that an A/C system first removes the moisture in the air and then cools it. You need to take it into a shop if you're not A/C qualified but for the time being, when the warm air comes out, turn the A/C off for 3 - 5 minutes and then turn it back on. The main problem is the Compressor is not cycling as it should.Could be as simple as a clogged screen in your Accumulator which also is the A/C system's filter and dryer.

Good Luck,

Dodge dakota backfire

It sounds like you need a good tune-up, such as spark plugs and/or wires. They will act up when cold and when warmed by engine temperature will let the engine run smoothly again. And possibly a distributor cap/rotor.

Get a 2nd opinion. Get the cooling system ckd. The cooling sensor will eventually adjust the timing along w the valves. ck your coolant level when warmed. all sensors contribute to valve/ timing.

Hot cold meter problems

One thing you are not driving far enough to warm the engine up. As far as running it ten minutes when cold you are not making the motor warm up as well It has to work to warm up.. They say it is a waste of money to run your car more than two or three minutes as newer cars are made to get in and drive right away when cold. I am wondering if your thermostat is working properly as well.

Have a '94 S-10 Blazer Tahoe 4X4 and it starts

My suspicion is a starter going bad. Sometimes when starters get old and worn they will start good when the engine is cold but not when the engine is warmed up. Did you perhaps notice that lately is seemed to drag when you tried starting, especially warm or it seemed to crank a little slower? I'd replace the starter. Hope this helps.

There have been a lot of problems with the compressor cutting out when it gets hot. When the A/C begins to blow warm, check the power supply wire to the compressor. If there is power in the wire, you will most likely have to replace the compressor. If there is no power, you will have to trace it back to see what the problem is (a wiring diagram will help greatly).
