Starting last week, my Hyundai Elantra GLS (w/cruise control) brake lights stay on and won't turn off. I replaced the brake light plunger switch at the brake pedal, but the problem remains. I can't find any other electrical issue in the car, and the car has not been in any rear end accident/damage. Any ideas?
Learned to trouble shoot this in school, it might be that your lights and or switch are backwards, that was usually the case we discovered to be the culprit, and be sure you have the right bulbs and not some random generic compatible with these model cars, those bulbs will not be compatible with the current going thru them, if this does not help, you might want to try to reinstall the original components to back track your work, unfortunetlly electronics on cars is very time consuming as we learned in class.....hope this works or helps you...shia

Checked both old and new plunger switch, both pass continuity test. Switch only connects one way to wiring harness, so not in backwards.
Emergency/hazards, reverse lights, and turn signals all still work normally too. Haven't replaced any of rear lights, all still original.
did u test the brake light switch?
I am having issues with the parking lights on the left side of my 2004 hyundai elantra gls in the front and the rear. the right side works
