If the check engine light was on DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's should be stored . If the light was on , disconnecting the battery won't do anything . Diagnostic's need to be done . Sounds like you have no clue , so best advice , take it to a qualified repair shop .

SOURCE: I FAIL THE EMISSIONS CODE# P0410- SECONDARY AIR INJECTION

I have a 2001 STS that had the same problem - Service Engine light and returned the P0410 code. It ended up being a small rubber hose that had pulled off one of the plastic lines in the secondary air system. In fact, I just fixed this last night.

Pull off the top engine shield (the one covering the motor and the fuel injectors, not the plastic one at the front of the car) and look for loose lines, hoses or wiring.

Also - if you remove the shroud under the engine (you just have to pull out a bunch of plastic retaining plugs) you can get at the lower elements of the SAS. Look for loose lines, hoses or wiring.

You could be fortunate and just have a loose line. Does the caddie run OK?

How to clean throttle body on 2005 gmc canyon 3.5l

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

My 2005 gmc canyon has an eratic idle problem and obdII scanner came up with these codes and i dont have the code manual anymore 300,506,8207,6505,9300

P0300 random misfire, P0506 Idle control lower than expected, 8207,6505,9300 these are GM codes will the use P0300 and P0506. Here is the solution GM canyon and colorado are plaque with camshaft solenoid plugging up,weather you maintance the vehicle like a religion or you dont the camshaft postion solenoid gets plug and causes rough idle every where. Here is your fix there are time I have succesfully cleaned the out with a carburator cleaner or engine cleaner and reenstalled and it worked, there are time I ran I with a engine oil flush and It worked, you gor 2 options take it out and clean it out,and put it back in(clean the oil ports of the solenoid).or run a engine oil flush with a oil change. Now why did this happen and what are the camshaft postion for.It for emmission it took place of the EGR has nothing to do with performance just emmission and headaches

I have a 2005 GMC CANYON and the check engine has come and stayed on. I checked the gas cap, it was on and tight, checked the oil it was full, just had it changed 2 weeks ago, checked the water and it was...

Theres is a way, you can do it with a scan tool or remove a battery connection for 5min, the check engine light can come on for many reasons, when the computer sees a problem with the engine sensors or trany that is out of specs it will turn on the light and store a codes in the computer, this codes will tell you what part of what system is failing, i would have the codes read to see what the problem is, this way you dont do any further damage, many autopart stores will scan the codes for free, i think you should get the code or codes and i will help you further, good luck and i hope this helps.

My 03 Focus has failed emissions 5 times now...same codes as always. It's failed every year, and ive reset and driven and passed. now, fail.

By failed Emmissions you mean it failed inspection? If this is the case you got some bad gas somewhere. If you ever had the vehicle in Europe then you most likely will need to have the exhaust system replaced as they test from the tail pipe. This could also be the Catylitic converter. If you are talking about the check engine light going off it is most likely an O2 Sensor that needs replaced.

Computer "not ready" for emmissions testing

Your computer will re-set and be "ready" after a certain number of restarts and miles, depending upon how much you use the car it should take from a few days to a week. Surprised the tech didn't tell you that!
