probably headlight switch known to be crappy look for melted wires on back of switch also google cherokee forums theres at least 4 or 5 cherokeeforums.com naxja.org, cherokeetalk.com jeeps unlimited.com, jeepgarage.com
These are all different circuits. The brake lights are on a 10amp fuse - the headlights are on a 50amp fuse - and the parking and dash lights are on a 20amp fuse. Do you have power going into the headlight switch and the brake light switch ?
Could be the headlight switch. The switch has two sets of contacts for the parking lights, the park position and headlight position. You may need to check the circuit at the switch to see if you are loosing power when the switch is moved from park to head.
It can be issue with headlight switch, but as its already been replaced.Try disconnecting high beam headlight wiring from headlight assembly and reconnect direct external wire from headlight switch to headlight assembly, then by switch see if headlight is getting off and turning on or not. See below related help links, similar to your issue.Click the link below:---- Only high beams work but head lights not
working on Ford F350?
I'd be willing to bet your dash lights don't work either when you turn the headlight on.change the headlight switch, it has a short, it's only about 11 dollars at advance auto, and is fairly easy to replace. my 93 chevy did same thing, changed headlight switch, problem solved
Well I don't see a fuse or fuseable link for the headlight circuit. In years past there was a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch for the headlights and fuses for everything else. I would check the red wire on the switch for power first. It could also be a problem with the dimmer switch.
Try checking both a; your fuses, and b; check your bulbs. You should have two fuse boxes, one under hood and one in or under the dash. Check those for bad, blown or weak fuses. And check your headlights bulbs for them being good and their connection. If this doesn't fix your problem, you may check out your highbeam switch.
The DRL's are separate from the actual headlights. It sounds like your headlights aren't working at all. The first thing I would check would be the headlight fuse(s), or relay(s). The location for these should be in your owner's manual.
