Smoke (blue or black) or steam (white)? White smoke is really steam that is caused by water leaking onto hot surface. Could be leaking from hose running to heater coil under dash, or something else. Check radiator water level to make sure water level is ok. Blue smoke is oil burning. This could be dangerous, caused by similar scenario of oil leaking on a hot surface (from a gasket leak, etc), or exhaust fumes. Black smoke means something is actually burning and could indicate fire. Black or blue some could fill vehicle cabin with toxic fumes, even if you don't smell anything bad.

Hello buddy, its concerning my clio 1.4l 16v petrol, when car starts there is a black smoke which emits out, when i accelerate the blak smoke continue. I suppose the car burning too much fuel.help plz

Remove a spark plug and inspect. If there are fluffy, dry carbon deposits, it's probably too much fuel, and I'd suspect a leaking fuel injector. If the plug is wet and oily, that usually indicates a failed piston ring or (sometimes) a blown head gasket, and you'll probably need a replacement engine (rebuilt), which may not be worth it.
One long shot: I had a truck where the oil pressure sensor would periodically start leaking and drip oil onto the exhaust pipe near the engine. When the pipe got hot, clouds of black smoke would start coming out the back when I was driving.

Hi I drive opel corsa diesel it smokes heavy when starting

Friend, you really don't have a problem. I'll explain like no one else will. Your vehicle is computer assisted and there is a dependency here in all newer vehicles. Your diesel engine starts as well and easily as it does in cold weather because of the computer being connected with the engine water temperature sending unit/sensor. This sensor tells the computer that the engine is cold and he computer places the engine into a "Cold Start" mode. You crank it over and the engine starts easily. What the computer is doing is advancing the fuel output to the fuel injectors a little and placing extra fuel into each cylinder when needed for starting. The excess smoke you see from the exhaust is normal, and will stop the smoking once the engine warms enough for the temperature sending unit/sensor to tell the computer to stop the cold start mode and place the engine into the normal run mode. This is a normal procedure that we don't have to fool with doing because the computer does it for us. And now you know why the smoke is only there upon start-up only. Have a great day with no more concern about a problem that does not exist. Best to you friend, Rigger. Have fun with your toy.

White Smoke Coming from Engine?

It sounds like you need a good mechanic to fix your oil leaks. It's probably the valve cover gasket leaking oil on the cylinder head and it's running down on the hot exhaust manifold.

Chevy Aveo strange smell and smoke coming through the vent with air conditioning on. Checked engine-OK. Turned up air conditioning full blast...after 30 seconds...little more smell and smoke it stopped...

If the blower motor is still working, that was not the problem-the strange smell might have been from some bacteria in the plenium, and the smoke may have just been the result of condensation from the evaporator in the plenium-keep an eye on it, but if the blower is working, I would not be overly concerned about it.

My car smoke when i take off and stop and only when im driving

Most common reason for this is bad valve seals, followed by oil rings, but you need to be a little more specific-what color is the smoke? Does it stop when the engine warms up? Is your fuel consumption up dramatically lately? Over time, an engine can smoke due to wear, or malfunctions. A little more info will help you get a plan together.

I have a noise in the fuel tank of my 1999 cadillac escalade is this noise could be cause by a bad fuel pump or a dirty fuel filter? Also when i turn my truck on some times a little biy of blue smoke comes...

as for the noise if it is a high pitched whine that you can hear while the engine is running its probably normal...most of them sound like this. it should be the same sound that comes on briefly as you turn the ignition on before the engine starts. if it is extremely loud, it may be a build up of debris in the filter causing too much back pressure on the pump or the pump may be on its way out. as for the blue smoke.... blue smoke is oil burning in the engine. you didnt say how many miles are on the vehicle but as a vehicle ages it will usually consume some oil as the engine is running. if the smoke only comes out on start up its probably due to the valve seals weeping a tiny bit of oil thru them and its burned up once the engine is running. its not too much to be overly concerned with at the moment, just check your oil level in the engine a little more frequently as now you know that you are consuming some oil at times. also switching to a "high milage" oil may help as they have conditioners in the oil that slightly swell rubber seals in the engine.

Lose of power and low fuel consumption and puffs white smoke when driving dtc showing code p1386

The white smoke is a concern. When there is white smoke present after the engine has reached operating temperature, this can be a sign of antifreeze getting into the combustion system. That can come from a couple of places depending on the vehicle. The most common place is from a leaking head gasket. If this engine has at one time been significantly over heated that is a strong possibility.
The mixing of coolant with the combustion can also cause very poor performance and stalling.

One of the tell tale signs of coolant in the combustion area is a sweet acrid smell from the exhaust, similar to the smell of maple syrup.

If this is the case the only permanent solution is a head gasket replacement and head reconditioning. This is a major expense and undertaking.

I have a 2002 Buick Century and soon after I start it white smoke comes out of the exhuast pipe. I don't believe coolant is getting in to the oil, so I was just wondering if I can keep driving the car...

If the white smoke comes out for 15 to 30 seconds your engine is ok. Condensation does build up inside the engine and as well as the exhaust and will burn out in that amount of time. If the white smoke is continuely extracted from the exhaust pipe you do have coolant leaking through the head gasket

White smoke, water vapor at initial start-up. drives a few miles, smokes again. could it be a vacuum regulator? 2001 jaguar s-type

Water vapor coming out of the exhaust at initial start-up is normal; that is condensation that collects when the engine is not running. White smoke at start-up depends on a couple of things. Tell me, where do you live? When the weather is very cold, all engines will emit steam (white smoke) when they are first running; this stops after the engine has been running a while and is warm.

In short, if this is only happening at first start of the morning and goes away over time, there is nothing wrong.

If, however, the "white smoke" continues and never stops, you may have a blown head gasket.

Audi engine oil leak?

Sounds like a leaking valve cover gasket. The parts are around $50 to do both cylinder heads from www.ecstuning.com. It's not a major issue, but it may be a sore point to a potential buyer.
