Where is the starter relay on a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

I replaced the starter, but it still won't start. Others are suggesting it might be the starter relay. I don't know where it is. I have a Haynes, but I can't locate it. I can go from the positive battery cable to the solenoid and it starts right up.

It should be in the under hood fuse box/panel. look under the cap of the box for the starter relay location.

The starter relay should be under the hood in what would appear to be a fuse/relay box usally located around battery it will have cover over it your haynes should tell you where to look if you look under fuses

That's not true the starter relay for any Mitsubishi Eclipse from 94-99 is behind the radio head take your stereo out and you'll see 2 relays the one closest to the steering wheel is the power lock relay and the other one is your starter relay

2003 mitsubishi eclipse rs wont start i already repalced the starter...where is the starter relay at

The relay is located in the relay box under the hood in the relay box. I suggest you Google "relay location 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse" for the exact location. For troubleshooting purposes, once you locate the relay, simply swap it with an identical relay within the relay box. If it still fails to start, then it is not the relay.

Have you figured this problem out yet? I am think the relay fuse going to the starter is out, as I have a new battery. I am trying to look for a diagram for the relay fuses, that may be what you need also.

1996 mitsubishi eclipse doesn't start when turning the key. had the starter tested, it was good. all the dash lights come on like normal, but nothing happens. Battery is good and fully charged. Any ideas.

check for voltage at the small start wire on the starter when cranking the engine--you will need someone help. If there is no voltage you may have a bad neutral safety switch ,which is on the trany shifter.you have an automatic trans i assume.
If so try putting in neutral when cranking.

Im having trouble starting my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

Josh, take the battery to Sears or a large auto parts store and have them test the condition. They do it for free. A battery will play the radio or run the lights with no trouble. It takes alot of amp power to turn the starter over. After you get it started check the volts across the battery. It should be just over 12 and less than 14 volts. If its not the alternator is not chargeing your battery, replace it.
I hope this helps you and your Mitsu.

Car turns slowly but just wont start

Starter turning slowly sounds like:

- bad starter, or
- bad connection to starter, or
- bad connection(s) on starter relay, or
- low charge on battery, and
- and maybe some others... but these are most likely

I had this same issue a few years back with my 2000 MItsubishi Eclipse. I was told the starter relay needed to be switched out. It has happened more than once, so I keep an extra starter relay in my car so I can switch them out if needed. It had also looked as if the starter relay had melted.
