SOURCE: So my 1995 Rodeo will

First things first...Rewiring the fuel pump will only put a "Bandaid" on whatever the problem really is and will most likely create a situation where wires are draped across places where they shouldn't be, causing all kinds of future electrical problems. I have had to clean up that type of mess too many times. That type of "shade-tree" repair makes proper diagnosis and repair of a vehicle nearly impossible, even by a trained technician. My recommendation: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

OK, Now that I have my preaching out of the way...
The check engine light is supposed to come on every time you turn the key to the "On" or "Run" position before starting the engine. This is for a "bulb-check" just to let you know that it is not burned out. It should go out immediately after the engine starts and should stay off the entire time you are driving the car. It is not any type of indicator to let you know that the fuel pump has run. If your check engine light is not coming on every time you turn the key to "On", then there is probably a problem with your ignition switch or your ECM Main Relay. Either of these can cause an intermittent failure of the ECM to power up, a)d thus, not turn the check engine light on. Failure of the ECM to power up will also cause the fuel pump to not run because like the check engine light, the fuel pump is controlled by the ECM. (Rewiring the fuel pump will not make the engine start if this is in fact what the problem is.)

I have also seen many fuel pumps that run when they want to. You could have a bad fuel pump, but refering to your statement about the check engine light, I would guess that the fuel pump is not the main problem or even if it is a problem at all.

What would prevent the fuel from being injected into cylinders from fuel rail i get fuel from tank up to fuel rails but will only start and stay running if i put gas straight into the throttle body

I would check fuses first because I found that nine out of ten times with me anyway that was the issue, or you can contact a dealer that sells your model and type of car, they might be able to give you some insight on your issue.

Will not start will crank will start with starting fluid but when quit spraying eng quits

`Probably the fuel pump in the tank has stopped working. Verify with a check for power at the gas tank connector: When the engine is cranking, the fuel pump wire should have power on it-use a test light or voltmeter. If the wire has power, but pump will not turn on, the gas tank will have to be removed to replace the pump.
Just by turning the key to on, not start, will or should cause the fuel pump to come on for about 2 seconds to pressurize the fuel lines and put gas under pressure against the fuel injectors. If you don't hear the pump buzz on for a brief time, you know you need to check the fuel pump circuit. Check fuse, check fuel pump relay...but the easiest way to verify a bad pump is to check fuel pressure, or check for power at the gas tank when the engine is cranking. No power is a fault in the circuit (fuse, relay, wiring), power available to the pump but no pump means the pump will have to be replaced .

Getting no fuel to the engine. some one zero out the computer. could not read the codes if any.

Fuel pump? If you don't hear it, you need to check if the pump has failed, or if there's a problem in the circuit to the pump. To check, pull off the fuel pump tank connector at the gas tank, and check for power on the fuel pump wire while a helper is cranking the engine over. If you have 12 volts there (can use a voltmeter or a test light), the pump has failed and need replacing. If no power when cranking engine, the fuel pump circuit will have to be diagnosed. You will need a wiring diagram of the pump circuit. It is a fused circuit, so first check the fuse. If fuse is good, find the fuel pump relay and hold a finger lightly on it while helper turns the key to on. The relay should click when key is turned to on. If it does, pull the relay out and check that the power feed for the pump is available on one terminal where the relay plugs in. Use the test light probe and check all terminals-one should be "hot at all times". If none have a signal (key is OFF), then power is lost between battery and that relay terminal. From here on, you will need a wiring diagram...Good luck.

    I have a 97 Jimmy 2dr 4x4 ..Not getting any gas ..

When you turn the key on you should hear the fuel pump run if not, (fuel pump should run for 2 seconds and turn off). first thing to check is your fuel pump cut off switch which goes off in case of an accident. Next thing to check on the fuel line is find a Schrader valve to check for fuel pressure. If you have pressure you may have a different problem. If you don't have pressure or not sure hooked up a test light to the Power Supply at the fuel pump. If the light goes on you have power to the fuel pump. You may have a clogged fuel filter. If the fuel pump is still not working you may have a bad fuel pump or bad ground. Splice a wire into the ground and grounded it. If the fuel pump doesn't work pull it out and manually test it. If the fuel pump does work check all your grounds and make sure their cleaning connected to the body good. If this does not work Get a wiring diagram to figure out where the problem is. Good luck

I BOUGHT A JAPAN COMMERSIAL TRUCK MODEL CD45 WITH ENGINE PF6. ALTHOUGH THIS FORUM IS MEANT MAINLY FOR EUROPE OR USA TRUCK BUT I JUST WISH SOMEONE COULD INFORM ME WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. MY TRUCK...

The ECU is usually the last thing a mechanic would suspect for a problem, after eliminating other possibilities. And you should concentrate on what happened to the fuel pressure-why did the fuel pump stop working. So you need to check and test the fuel pump circuit.
Look for the fuel pump fuse first of all and check that it is good. Here is how most fuel pump circuits work: The fuse supplies power to the fuel pump relay (under the hood), and when the relay is activated (or energized) by the ecu signal that goes to the coil side of the relay, then the fused power passes on through the relay and to the fuel pump in the gas tank.
If you have no fuel pressure, the pump has quit working. So to test the circuit, you would use a test light or volt meter at the fuel tank electrical connector. Find the wire for the fuel pump and see if it has power on it when the engine is cranking over. If it does have power, then you need to pull the pump off and replace it. If there is no power to the pump when cranking the engine, the pump circuit must be the problem. Better find a wiring diagram, you will need it to diagnose further.

    1991 Pontiac Bonneville V6 FWD

Sounds like your not getting enough fuel from a bad fuel pump. As the pump heats up it stops sending the proper PSI of fuel from the pump to your engine. As it cools down it gets better but quickly returns once the pump heats back up. The only real solution is replacing the pump and fuel filter.
Make sure in the future to keep at least a half a tank of gas in it as the gas cools the pump.

    Hope this helps..
