I am far from a trans. specialist but this sounds like a foreign body (dirt maybe) got in the valve body.

Can the wiring harness connector o-ring on a 4L60E be replaced without removing the valve body?

yes.

but you have to loosen/remove most of the valve body bolts so that the valvebody lowers enough to pull out connector plug. But technically, the valvebody doesnt need to be dropped completely (removed from the transmission) to remove the connector plug

P1870 GMC Transmission Component Slipping

Your computer has sensed a component slipping in your transmission. At that mileage I would recommend a rebuild. The 4L60E is notorious for a weak sunshell anyway. I recently rebuilt mine and the spline ring was broken, but had not stripped the spline teeth out of the sunshell body yet.. There are fixes for the valve body for this code, but with your mileage, I think you would be wasting your time and probably sooner than later would experience another failure if not a complete failure.

Can the sun shell be replaced in a 1997 4l60e transmission without pulling valve body

No the trans has to come out and completely apart. Do not attempt without trans overhaul experience.

Transmission on my 99 suburban with no warning signs started slipping in all gears even reverse can a dirty filter cause this issue

if your transmission has been slipping, it means that the clutch plates and steel plates have gone. youre going to have to have it rebuilt or swapped out for a rebuilt one.

A transmission filter should never get dirty enough to prohibit the valve body and pump from getting enough fluid. unless you have driven the truck through deep water or heavy off road use.

The 99 suburban has a 4L60E or 4L80E transmission. depending on the chassis package, If you have a 1.5" rear yoke diameter(the thing connecting the trans to the driveshaft), its a 4L60E, if its larger you have the other. The trans are usually good for at least 150K miles under normal use.

I have 2005 Chevy Suburban; when you engage the gear in drive the truck would move but won't get out of the first gear. I've checked my transmission fluid and its ok. It also responds to reverse when you...

Common problem probably a 4L60E transmission The low and reverse clutches are the same ones The forward clutches are another set and then there are the 3-4 clutches in another pack. So you probably burn out the forward clutches or could be a stuck valve in the valve body. Time for a transmission specialist.

4l60e automatic tranny rebuild issues

I have also personally seen/fixed a 4L60E that had a broken reverse servo piston,it is the piece that engages the low/reverse band under a cover in the valve body area,a piston with a band engagement pin. Anyone that has this problem can have it repaired in the vehicle, its worth checking BEFORE replacing the trans unless the fluid is burn't or there are other symptoms present. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to help

Ford : back the truck up 10ft put truck in neutral and disengage four wheel low. (You can't drive in four wheel low cause its a pulling gear and you won't do over 3-5 mph.)
Nissan: start truck see if it idles normal. If so rev motor and check throttle for sticking and check EGR valve make sure its not stuck open or malfunctioning when you drive it..
