01 nissan altima turns over fine but no start,i have fuel psi (45psi),i also have spark, not strong but i am sure enough to start the car,i replaced plugs, was thinking timing, but it has a chain, also checked all the fuses all good.what else could it be?
ya im know it can jump but as common as a belt would jump, the systems i got from the owner it just quit, and the first thing i thought was timing belt, but the the chain made me think different,is that a common problem with this vehicle, jumping time

I guess the first thing to try is a timing light. If your timing mark is jumping all over the place when you turn it over, the chain is shot. I guess the first thing to try is a timing light. If your timing mark is jumping all over the place when you turn it over, the chain is shot.

Make sure you get a fuel pressure reading to know if you need to replace the fuel pump assembly...it should have 43 psi reading. If it is bad the fuel filters need replaced too. A fuel pump should never be ran lower that a quater of a tank because it kills the life of the pump, it acts as the pumps cooling system. Check for spark and see if there are any engine codes like a bad crank signal. Good luck
Nissans are known to have problems with ignition coils which would not show up on code reader. I would start with that. Pull a plug and hold it to ground to see how strong the spark is while turning engine over. If the plugs are wet when you take them out then you can be sure it is in all probability related to coils.
how much fuel preasure ? this van needs 54 psi to start the lowest 45psi,make sure theres enough preasure. if timing is on and theres spark and you have preasure it should start unless!! there no injector pluse, check the injectors for power and pluse.if you spray throtlebody and it starts then we know it a fuel problem start there, let me what happens.
38 psi is high ??? MMmmm ..regulator... but you need spark check the coil make those plugs arc see them flash ....advance the distributor a lil just a inch ...

so you think the timing chain can't jump?
