How do I get the fuel filter off my 03 Jaguar x-type 2.0 diesel. I've got the pipes off but can't seem to shift the filter. Is it meant to just lift out?

The casing either unscrews from the top or there is a bolt that goes up from the bottom and must come out.. be ready to catch the fuel when removing..most are spin on like the engine oil filter..but you must bleed the air out or the car will not start..

SOURCE: X type diesel oil filter

Hi, the oil filter is a paper element item in a plastic housing, under the car on the front RHS of the engine. You need a end cap filter wrench to undo it. I've tried a set i borrowed and couldn't find one to fit. I had to make a tool in the end by taking a bolt with a head to match the hex shaped piece at the bottom of the housing and wleded bits of flat steel to it. You could use a correctly sized socket (24-26mm?) but be careful not to break it!! Also make sure you locate the O-ring for the filter correctly.
Regards,
Dave

SOURCE: I want to change my oil filter in Jaguar x type

Yes! You will have to remove 4 bolts (15mm Socket) and 6 torx screws (T30). Unclip the front 2 clips and slide the undercover to rear of the car.

SOURCE: 2002 jaguar s type fuel filter location please

1) jack-up left front of car (drivers-side)and remove wheel.
2) Remove plastic inner fender .
The maintenance schedule is every 12-thousand miles.

Caution prior to removing fuel filter-
Pull the fuel pump relay or fuse while engine is running, this will disable the electric fuel pump and release fuel pressure in line.

Diesel Filter

it is located under the bonnet at rear of r/h inner wing after fitting new filter you have to bleed the system by drawing fuel up to the filter by using a syringe or similar on the filter outlet pipe stub or on the pipe coming back from the high pressure pump to the filter. DO NOT TRY AND START ENGINE UNTIL THIS HAS BEEN DONE YOU WILL GET AIR IN THE HIGH PRESSURE SIDE.

Cant find the diesel pump relay

it does not have a electric fuel pump the fuel pump is mechanical and is driven by the timing chain, it is a 2 stage pump 1st stage is the low pressure side which draws fuel from the tank 2stage is the high pressure side which supplies very high pressure to the common rail for electronic controlled injectors you have to bleed the low pressure side by drawing fuel up to the filter using a vacuum source or similar if you have changed the filter etc do not try and start the engine until you have done that or you will draw air in the high pressure side and to bleed that you will have to loosen the injector pipes and crank the engine to purge the air but once undone you should replace the pipes according to jaguar due to the very high pressures in the system for safety reasons

Jag X TYPE Diesel Black smoke coming from exhaust on acceleration

i had this problem and thought the fuel filter oil filter needed replacing so i have just had a service done but problem is still there but not as bad. been told it could be the AGR valve or a split pipe going to it which recuirculates unused fuel back to burn again. therefore unspent fuel is coming out of the exhaust causing the black smoke. i am still looking for the answer aswell, hope this helps.
