You have to place the radio in the on position and place the key in the on position (car not running) and let it sit for about 45mins and it will reset the radio and it will give you three more attempts to enter the codes.

Call 1888mitsu2001, choose option #4, then hit * (star). give the operator the last 8 numbers in your vin and they will provide the radio code for FREE!

DO NOT PAY FOR THE CODE ONLINE OR GO TO THE DEALER (they will also charge you).

- you will also need to provide the serial and part number of your radio (takes about 5 minutes to take apart an eclipse dash...1 screw in the bottom of the HVAC panel) if you call the 1888mitsu2001 it will provide basic instructions on how to accomplish this.

- if your radio says "off" (meaning you entered the wrong code too many times) you need to put your key in the ignition and turn it to ACC (NOT ON MODE) mode for approx. 45min - 1hr and then your radio will say "code" at which point you can enter the code to unlock the radio.

Resetting computer

There is a long drawn out procedure to do this, however, the simplest solution would be to unhook your Negative Battery cable, and if you like, the Positive one as well...Over-night (or for at least two hours). When you reconnect them, then the code should be erased from your "Trip Computer" and your car should start fine. I take it you're not speaking of the "radio code." Should this not work completely, remove the glove box door, while the battery's un-hooked and unplug the connection to your Motronics, or "computer" for ten seconds and that should erase any previously set codes you've entered.

Hope this Helps,

If the wrong code is entered a few times it won't take one at all. Unhook your battery for about an hour and try again.

Can not reset/start my radio after my battery was disconected.

Did you try entering the code the maximum amount of times (usually 3 times) and it locked you out? If that is what you're referring to try this: You will need to unhook the battery cable for 1 1/2 hours. When you hook it back up it the radio should be reset and ready to enter the code again. Do not try again until you have the right code. Call a Volvo dealership and they should be able to walk you through it over the phone for free. I hope this helps you out!

How to reset the raido

Hello,

There is a trick to the procedure. You have to turn the key to position 1 or the first stop on the ignition. Turn on the radio and wait between 2.0 to 3.0 hours for the radio to reset and ask for the code. From the owners manual. My 97 takes between 2:25 and 2.5 hours to reset. Every radio is different.

To enter the code:

After installation or when the set has been disconnected from power, the set displays "codE" when it is switched on.
Enter the 4-digit code using the preset buttons. If the correct code is entered, "on" is displayed and the set is ready to use.
If you enter an incorrect code you must enter the correct code again from the beginning.

Incorrect code

If an incorrect code has been entered "rPt" is displayed. Enter the correct code.
After three unsuccessful coding attempts the set will lock and remain locked for two hours.
"OFF" is displayed.

During this waiting period:

the battery must be connected
the ignition key must be turned to position I
the unit must be turned on
Make sure the headlights are turned off to help prevent battery drain (please refer to page 2:6 for information on turning the headlights off). Enter the code again once this time has elapsed.

Goodluck!
