if A/T is this the 42RE box>? are you in DRIVE? or 1 or 2 gear.
does rpm rise above 3000 rpm > at your attempt? if not ,its a bad engine (weak)
is the shift linkage even shifting correctly (movement top and bottom)
check levels yet. (and for pink ./red AFT not black-metal flake

using a basic OBD2 scan tool are there any tranny DTC errors?>
does the FSM stall test pass? in 1st.? and reverse?
if stall fails, slips , then tranny bad. if not its really stuck in 1st gear.
The TCM commads the gear change, there is no valve body brain.
the TCM shifts to second with good inputs to the TCM
if the TCM sees bad inputs it will tell you, SCAN IT.
There are several things that could cause that. > Replacement transmission not equipped with overdrive > Overdrive solenoid in replacement transmission defective > Overdrive control circuits damaged or loose pins or connections. > Gear shift linkage or cable out of adjustment > Transmission range sensor malfunction or out of adjustment
Since you have a computer-controlled transmission, it would be better to ask the onboard computer that question....you will probably get a much more definitive answer.
sounds like low transmission fluid, a dirty filter or both, to check the fluid level, open the hood leave the engine running put the transmission in neutral with the parking break on then pull out the dip-stick labled trans, wipe it off with a rag plug it back in then pull it our and look at the level. To see if there is a dirty filter look at the fluid if it is darkbrown or black and it smells burnt then you need to get your transmission flushed and the filter changed.
You should check oils for water in: engine, diffs, transfer case and transmission. To sure that oils are not cloudy in color due to water contamination. It would be a good idea to change these any way to eliminate any possible problems in the future. Four wheel drive vehicles are meant for roads and are not considered and amphibious vehicle, you have vent tubes in all of the above mentioned . Hope this helps you!
I guess it doesn't go fine then. You probably need to take it to a trans shop to be sure, but it shoulds like an issue with the electronics on the trans.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and put a test light between the battery and the wire. If light comes on fairly bright that means that something is staying on in the vehicle. Start to pull fuses till light goes and that will tell you which circuit to look for. Could be something like a glove box light staying on that you can not see.
Check the condition of the tranny oil on the dipstick. If it's black
and smelly, the tranny clutches might be worn out. Make sure you have
enough fluid in there first. Check the fluid with the car engine
running and the tranny in park. The level should be between the 2 marks.
the output spped sensor is on the drivers side rear of the transmission case..its a 2 wire connector..the wires are dark bluewith a black tracer and light green with a white tracer
