My 1985 GMC truck starts fine, but once it warms up, it dies everytime you let off the throttle and will not restart. I had the carburator worked on and it did better for about 5 days before it started again.

check for a faulty / blocked accelerator pump /circuit as this fits the lack of fuel squirt on acceleration description. Also check the timing of the ignition.
This sounds like an ignition problem. Check the ignition coil. Low spark voltage can cause this. As well, the amplifier module in the HEI distributer could be at fault.
This could be a blockage in the carburator,try to clean it, especially the valves. There is a specific spray for the job on the market. You might need to dismantle it.
The EGR valve is sticking. Remove and clean with fluid filum or white grease and u should be fine for a while or just replace it for they don't cost to much.Hope this helps.
