A P0171 code does not indicate a vacuum leak; it indicates a dirty mass air flow sensor. This device is located between the air filter box and the intake manifold. Locate it, unplug the wire harness, and remove the 2 screws that holds it onto the intake pipe. Look down inside th sensor, you will see 2 small wires, that are probably covered with fuzzy things...using a spray cleaner, such as brake cleaner, spray the 2 wires until they are clean and shiny. Do NOT use compressed air, that will damage the sensor. When it is clean; reinstall it and drive it. The computer will recognize the now clean sensor, and your troubles will be over.

97 toyota camry 2.2 code reading p0171 got the part and then cleared codes 45 min later check engine light came back on same code?

Which part did you replace? Try checking the following areas.
  • A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled.
  • There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
  • Possible cracked vacuum or PCV line/connection Faulty or stuck open PCV valve.
  • Failed or faulty oxygen sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) Sticking/plugged or failed fuel injector.
  • Low fuel pressure (possible plugged/dirty fuel filter!) Exhaust leak between engine and first oxygen sensor

Check enging is on---OBD code is PO171 & p1443---how do i fixed this problem

The most likely cause of these two codes tripping together is a vacuum leak associated with the canister purge system. This system collects the vented gasoline vapor from the fuel tank and when the engine is running purges the canister into the manifold.

The P0171 is an indication that the engine is running lean and the P1443 is a fault associated with the Purge Control Valve Solenoid trouble code control valve.

Inspect under the hood for a disconnect vacuum line.

The photos are examples of the vacuum circuit connect via hoses. Listen for a vacuum leak when the engine is running. It would be a whistle sound. Also if work has been done recently look in the area that the work was done under the hood.

Obd system check -fail

It means that the O2 sensor isn't switching as fast as it should. Make sure there are no vacuum or exhaust leaks. Most Likely you got a lazy O2 sensors which would require replacement.

Throttle position sensor

Have you checked generic & enhanced data for codes
with a scan tool?

Have you scoped the TPS to put that to rest?

Your putting in throttle, but the ecu is not adding air calculation
or fuel,so you need to do some testing to see what's missing.

Starts & runs good, but under load or higher vacuum it bogs,so
check the egr system or any vacuum related systems.

Check for vacuum leaks, intake, exhaust before converter & evap system
