No there is no bypass. The Motor in my tailgate crapped out on me last year partly to do with a rusted out tailgate that let water in! I replaced my tailgate, but in my research found that the only way to get the window down was to remove the inside panels on the tailgate, un screw the cover plate, and then unbolt the motor to allow the window to drop enough to open the tailgate. Once the tailgate is down it will be easier to see the internals and remove the motor. Hope this helps you

01 4 runner tail gate will not open. How do you get the tailgate pannel off with the gate closed or how do you get at the locking mec?

If a tailgate won't open and you need to get to the mechanism inside the panel must be removed by whatever means are available, even if it means destroying the panel and removing it in pieces - fortunately the few I have tackled, the panel was flexible enough to remove with minimal damage.
In those cases the tailgates had an electric release and one had a defective switch and the others had broken wiring where the harness jumps from the body to tailgate.

How to fix my rear tailgate window

check the fuse/relay. if it is neither of these check the switch with a multimeter. If you can hear the motor trying to move the glass when you try the switch it may be the regulator needs attention. It may be the motor needs to be replaced.

check fuse and relay along with the switch first then the regulator and motor afterwards. Replacing the small electronics is obviously easier than having to open up the tailgate to check the mechanics of the winedow.

85 s10 Chevy blazer: back window and tailgate won't open

Very typical for the window motor to fail. The tailgate will not open when the window isn't rolled down. If there is voltage to the terminals of the window motor when you actuate the switch but the motor does not turn, replace the motor. Once you are able to roll the window down, the tailgate should open again.

Rear Window in 1990 Ford Bronco

you could run a 3 way switch of some kind. but i would try looking in the access panel and finding the safety switch either right on the bottom of the handle or the drivers side tailgate latch. they are known to go bad.you can replace it but i pulled mine out and jumped it with a piece of wire works fine now

Back door wont open and window wont go down

The rear window has to be completely down in order to move the tailgate! You should be happy that your window is stuck up, unlike mine which is stuck all the way down! I have to completly take apart my tailgate!! If you want to try a trick to get the rear window down, my bronco has a rear window switch right next to the headlight knob, take the 2 purple wires on that window switch, and cross them, if your motor still works and if the wires are good, that should make the window go down!!! good luck, hope that helps!
