My 2005 Audi A-4 transmission

My audi is both auto and manual. It was shifting hard so we changed the fluid. We used fluid that is used on VWs, high performance cars, etc. It was fine for a few days then started to shift hard again in reverse and when down shifting in the automatic mode. What could be the problem ? The fluid level is good. Is there a difference between a gear box and the transmission?

Yes. but the other issue is your valve bady in the transmission itself could be going out on you.

How do i top up my auto transmission on audi a6 2006

The German manufacturers came up with a great new idea that many others have now copied and that is to eliminate the under bonnet filler tube and dip stick. Some of the German manufacturers have decided to eliminate engine oil dip sticks as well. These people are just so innovative.

Thus you have to use the correct filling procedure as laid down by the manufacturer which involves filling the auto transmission from under the vehicle by removing the filler plug on the side of the auto unit and pumping in the fluid. It used to be so much easier.
Obviously this is best done on a lift/hoist and the vehicle must be level.

My 1999 Audi A4 has a hard time accerlating on inclines. The tach is moving at a high rpm but the car is not accelerating like it shoul.

Hi, if this is a auto built before 2004, audi used a 5 plate clutch which is renowned for going wrong , check fluid level in transmission first. good luck.

1996 audi a4 transmission hard shift problems

I would first check the level. If it is good then do a regular fluid/filter change. Do NOT do a flush. Just a regular change.

If it works well in all other gears and the car runs well and there is not check wngine light. Then it is probable a early sign of Tran issues. So the fluid change is about all you can do without major work needed.

Fill transmission fluid on 19999 audi a4

LISTEN CLOSE. THERE IS A PLUG ON PAN. REMOVE IT. WITH A SYRINGE TYPE CANISTER YOU NEED TO INJECT THE FLUID INTO IT UNTIL IT STARTS TO COME OUT. THEN CAREFULLY START VEHICLE AND INJECT ANOTHER 3/4 QUART UNLESS IT STARTS TO COME OUT OR EVEN A QUART.LET IT RUN FOR 5 MINUTES THEN CONTINUE TO INSERT UNTIL IT OVERFLOWS AND TIGHTEN THE PLUG BACK TO THE PAN. i WOULD ONLY USE AUDI VOLKSWAGON FLUID AND YES IT CAN RUN $14 TO $18 A LITER

Audi a4 autotransmission change fluid

The automatic cars (at least the tiptronics, which came out in 98) require the transmission to be up to a specific temperature, which must be monitored while changing the fluid - this requires VagCom, the VW/Audi diagnostic software (I'm not making this up). I am not sure whether the non-tiptronic cars had to have this as well or if it can be done as any other transmission - best bet is to call a European specialty mechanic and ask them - a dealer will kill you with labor rates. Do not just drain and refill though, without finding out first whether the VagCom procedure must be used.

A4 Transmission shifting

Fist thing to do is change the transmission fluid and filter. Audi says the transmissions have lifetime fluid, but that's bull - change it first and see if that helps. If not, have the car scanned by a shop and have the chassis codes looked into. If there's a true electrical control problem, there should be at least one code stored (which may not trip the check-engine light).

Check your gearbox oil level. It maybe low or to high.
