98 civic dx d4 light blinking

My cars d4 light is blinking rapidly I don't know why. I changed the fuse for the alternator because the speedometer and dashboard, head lights and back lights we're flashing. I fixed that problem but now my d4 light is blinking even when I put it on park and when I'm driving. It's a 98 honda civic dx automatic coupe

SOURCE: blinking dashboard drive light

The light is blinking to let u know that an electronic failure has occured in the transmission, u may feel nothing wrong or it could fail next week, get it tested for the trouble code that is stored in the trans computer control module.

SOURCE: D4 blinking, spedometer not working, check engine light on

Hi, a few questions 1st. Did your mechanic check for engine codes? Is your Honda a v-6 or 4 cylinder?
The flashing D4 light indicates a possible transmission malfunction. You should avoid rapid acceleration until the cause of the light blinking is determined.
If you have the V-6, there is a diagnostic port to connect a scan tool to read any stored engine codes that have turned on the check engine light. This port is located behind the ashtray in the center console (most cars did not have this til 96).
If you have the 4 cyl engine, there is a service connector located under the dash on the pass. side. Inside the connector is what looks like a 2 wire plug should be attached. Take a paper clip, unbend it, and insert the 2 ends of the clip into the connector to 'jump' it. Turn the ignition switch to the on position (don't start the vehicle), and the check engine light will flash. Count the flashes, short flashes are for code #'s 1 to 9 (single digit code), a 2 digit code will be a long flash for the 1st digit, followed by a short flash for the 2nd digit. If there is more than one code, they will be separated by a pause. They will repeat so you can count them and write them down. Let me know what the code #'s are so I can help further. Curt

2000 civic ex D4 light flashing

Maintenance Warning light. The Transmission Control Module would trigger the D4 light to blink to indicate an error has been detected in the control system.

When the speedometers intermittently fails due to a faulty Vehicle Speed Sensor, a trouble code would be stored in the TCM.

The VSS is failing and replacement is due. Scanned the module in order to know specifica fault code.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Lights blinking

Sounds like you may have bad battery make sure your battery is getting the charging voltage of 13,8 volts or higher check it with a volt meter and see if the alternator is working right I've gotten bad alternators one can never be to sure than elminate that problem and move onto the battery make sure its good. it should have 12.6 volts or higher after it has been fully charged or you think its charged . than last check your relays and your fuses make sure there all working good luck
