Drain the oil, then put the proper amount back in.

Remove the drain plug on the oil pan and drain into a very clean container. Replace the plug and pour oil back into the engine till it's full. Save the remainder and use for top-off between changes. (If it's only a little overfull ...less than 1/2 inch above the line, don't worry about it...it's fine.)

Ok, the best way is to safely raise the front of your vehicle and pull the oil plug located on the bottom of the oil pan. this is a screw and it will come out fast so, you will need a bucket or something you can put under this oil plug that will catch the waste oil. once you remove the oil plug screw, the oil will flow. i would relieve the excess oil for about 5 to 10 seconds then, screw back on the oil plug on the pan and check the level.

repeat this procedure until you reach the desired level that is safe.

Please rate and have a great day:)

When the 1995 chevy lumina runs the motor blods down like its out on time and it will not start back up until the car sits for one hour

First of all, what engine size? Is check engine light on? Is it using coolant &/or oil? When was last tune up? Plugs, wires & filters? Always start off with maintenance first.

Removal of oil pan for chevy lumina 1995

You must raise then engine high enough to remove the oil pan. Loosen motor mount bolts & remove them, jack engine up enough to remove pan or use a chain block. Use wood blocks to support engine at motor mounts. Good luck!

I have a 1995 Chevy Lumina with the ''Low Oil'' light on.

may be the oil sending unit is bad
may be the oil pump
is there any noise in the engine?
have the oil pressure check at a repair shop to make sure you have enough oil pressure
if it's ok then have the shop replace the switch while they have the old one out to check the pressure
