Hyundai santa fe 2002 remote key fob locking ok but fails to unlock. suspect micro switch faulty. can it be replaced?

The key fob does two things quite separately. It open and closes the doors. It also provides the correct security credentials to the vehicle immobilizer. At first is sounded like whomever programmed it only did half the job. It may also be that the internal battery is low. It is a complex error with the vehicle computer systems on a key fob with unknown history and issues.

Or go into a place that does car alarms and radios. They will have the necessary test equipment and scan tool computers.

Does the vehicle light up when u hit the buttons? If not check battery's or you might have to reset the fob

their is a way to do it but recheck battery first sometimes the relearn process doesnt work or the fob itself is dead also if auto /remote start will need dealer to flash fob ---- 2002 santa fe and followed programming instructions and eventually was able to program the new remote. But, I did not realize I had to program my existing remote at the same time. Since, I have retried programming both remotes many times with no success--the new one works, but the old one won't. The instructions were: 1) Locate switch under dash, behind fuse box; 2) Turn ignition switch on, but don't start engine; 3) Wait 5 seconds, set memory switch to SET position; 4) Press remote LOCK button; press second remote transmitter LOCK button; 5) Set memory switch to OFF; 6) Switch ignition OFF. 7) Confirm programming by locking and unlocking vehicle.

i had a problem not unlike this in my santa fe 1.9td uk spec.
my car had been sitting for a few months and when i returned to drive it again the same problem came to light.
i also rep[lsaced the key fob.
it could be one of two things.
firstly the systen might neen re-set. if you disconnect the battery for 2 hours then attach ti again it might work.
if this fails it might be the actuator in one of the doors. if it is faulty then it only semi closes the lock, but it then thinks that has to lock again. and locks the door.

Set memory switch to SET position using a very small screwdriver. Press remote control lock or unlock button. Set memory switch to OFF position. Fob won't move locks until you put it in the off position. Confirm synchronization has been successful by locking and unlocking vehicle. Repeat procedure for second remote control or in my case I did them at the same time and they both work fine. Synchronization can also be carried out using diagnostic equipment.
