SOURCE: Interior lights won't turn on when door opens

Do you have electric locks in the vehicle? One test to do is turn on the car's headlights and open the door. You should hear a chime when you open the driver door. One other thing is to unlock the doors with the remote if you have a remote open the driver door, get in the car but don't put the key in the ignition. The doors might relock after 15-20 seconds. This proves that the door signal open is not being processed. Just tell me what model VW and what year and if you have electric locks and I'll help you.

SOURCE: interior lights problem

Just because the headlight warning comes on does not mean that the interior light is on the same circuit through the door switch.

There are also some perameters that can be set using a scan tool from the dealer, or what's known as a Vag-Com that many VW owners have.

SOURCE: Interior lights won't turn on when door opens

you have a bad drivers door latch, the micro switch inside is not telling the computer that the latch has been opened which would normally mean the door is open.

SOURCE: 2006 Jetta TDI Electrical!!!

There is a known issue with the wiring harness in the doors. It's possible that the passenger door also has a bad harness (assuming they swapped out the one in the driver's door) Is that a correct assumption? It may still be related to your original problem too. I've heard of disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to reset the electrical (door switches). You should def give that a try - it's free.
Also check out the forums at www.tdiclub.com - those guys know their VW TDI's...

Testimonial: "The battery disconnect did not work but I am glad to hear it's not just me."

SOURCE: Drivers door sensor not working

It's the switch on the door frame that detects when your door is open. VW's are notorious for this problem. It either needs to be cleaned or replaced. Definitely try cleaning it first. It might be stuck in the "door closed" position.

The back seat interior overhead lights of my 2006 Buick Lucerne have begun to stay lit when I'm driving. Pushing on light does not turn it off. How to turn them off manually?

If the rear light on the other side goes on and off by pushing on the light then i would say the switch in the one that stays lit it either stuck or broken and may need to be replaced. i think you could stop by a body shop and they would be able to do it for less money that a Buick dealer would.

Dear Joe. It Maybe the memory system on the mirrors, seats, & radio presets. Some are set to match the remote key entry depending upon which person is driving at the time. Sounds like you have the memory system error. Try calling a Buick dealer for info.

2006 buick lucerne back doors won't open

My friend just had this problem and he reached in and pulled the inside door handle back as far as it would go, and then let it go, allowing it to 'snap' back. For some reason this fixed it. We have no idea why. By doing this on one door, both rear door locks freed up and the rear locks are now working. Before, both rear locks were stuck and you could not open the doors from the inside nor the outside. Not sure why it works, but maybe it will work for you!

My 2006 Ford Fusion's radio won't turn off. Everytime I take the keys out and open the door the radio doesn't cut off!! Why!!!

U have a defective door ajar switch most likely, if this switch remains closed then the delayed exit feature stays on, this means the radio will stay on because the delayed exit module didn't sense the door was opened, try opening the passenger door to confirm this problem, any door should turn off the radio
