I have a 1995 chrysler concorde 2 days ago ran fne but i need to figure why it wont start it stalled on me 2 times 2 days ago. possible duraspark issue the engine cranks it just doesnt start fluides are fine i hve a quarter tank of gas. heard it was paoosible duraspark. would like to know as soo as possible
No starts are usually gas or spark related, so you're kind of in the ball park. Spark is from your ignition system, and is computer controlled. ( Duraspark is an older Ford ignition system, not even used anymore.) You begin checking the ignition system by seeing if spark is being generated at the spark plug-the reason to have all the complex parts of the ignition system. Purchase a cheap spark tester and hook it to a spark plug wire. Ground the tester to a metal bracket by its grounding clip, then have someone crank the engine over while you watch for a strong blue spark. If you have good spark, try one other plug wire, and if also good-a strong blue spark-then you can assume your ignition system is working, and look for a gas problem. If no spark or if spark is yellow or orange colored, or if just an occasional spark, not consistent, then the ignition system will have to be diagnosed-could be a lot of things-coil, ignition module, crank position sensor, the engine computer, etc.
Now for gas, you first want to know if the fuel pump is getting gas up to the engine, so the fuel injectors can work. If you turn the key to on, not start, you should hear the fuel pump in the tank buzz on for about 2 seconds to pressurize the system. If you don't hear it, stand close to the gas tank while someone turns the key to on. If you hear the pump, gas under high pressure should be up against the injectors, ready to be sprayed into the cylinders when the injectors are opened. One could next check the injector circuit with a voltmeter, a test light, or a tester called a "noid light", a cheap little blinker light connected to an injector connector, that will blink when the engine is cranked over. If it blinks, it means the injector circuit is working, but it has to blink on and off. If it doesn't blink or doesn't even light up, the injector circuit is not working.
Now if you didn't hear the pump come on, first check the fuel pump fuse. The pump circuit is a bit complex and needs diagnosed properly to find the problem with a pump not turning on.
Here's a quick test to see if you have a gas problem with no starting: try some starting fluid into the air intake throttle body assembly. Pull off the big rubber boot to the air intake and spray the starting fluid inside, into the engine. Then try to start the car. If it fires up and runs for a few seconds, you know that you have a fueling problem. Either the pump is not turning on, or the fuel pressure is too low (a weak pump or clogged fuel filter), or the injector circuit is not working.
I hope I have helped you out a little. Good luck. A reply back is much appreciated. Let me know what you find and how it turns out.
Testimonial: "alight i didnt see this befor a friend and i started but first thing we did was checked to see if the fuel pump is working which it was , so after that we looked for the filter and we did have to replace that , we tryed again charging the battery and tryedtuning it over then that didnt work so checked the timing belt which which my friend and i discovered it was a timing chain so were going the coil tested as we speak"
Okay, sounds good so far. It stalled while running, now you know the fuel pump is working. If you have no spark, it sure sounds like one of two likely things: crank position sensor or ignition control module. If ignition system shuts down while you are driving, it is definitely computer related. The computer gets info from crank sensor to figure out the timing of the spark, and then the computer sends a signal to the ignition control module-which controls the coils and the primary circuit to the coils. If either one of those parts failed, the coil or coils will not cause spark-no high voltage will be generated.///Now for sure, it could be something else, like the computer itself, or a short in the zillion miles of wiring associated with everything-...here's where mechanics stress testing before replacing even the least minor thing (retired shadetree myself), you've probably heard it before. But on a lighter note, the two most common failures of "no spark" are the crank position sensor and ICM-first things to check, I would say.
right on well im kind of going hit or miss on the i did get a brand new crank position sensor.im going to do that if its not that its deffenitly going to be the other right the guy at autozone said that the sensor and the coil goes out on these cars and that it not common but seeing how small this sensor is its kind of madning that somethin g so small could be the reason that it wasnt starting up thats just crazy bnut ill let you know. i hope it works i really love driving my concorde its a tank lol

Possibly you need to change he battery . check he batery if it,s low , replace it .

Have somone check the timing belt make sure it has not jumped any teeth common problem on a old car with high mileage.
Testimonial: "I verified the problem was the timing belt. I thought it was the MAP sensor but turns out, timing belt was about to break, thanks."

your car problem is overheating, some car model like yours is designed to shut-down engine when engine temp. rise so as to avoid frying the engine. your engine overheating problem is attributed by one of these factors:
1. check or refill radiator water if less
2.check radiator cooling fan operation-if damaged pls. change or check the electrical system.
3. damage/ worn water pump-if damage pls. change the water pump.
4. check for any coolant leak somewhere the coolant line-pls. rectify the leak.
5.worn coolant reservoir cap- change if damaged.
6. clogged radiator-if clogged pls. change it.
7. damaged thermostat valve.

If you ran out of gas you may need to bleed the injectors for air in the line. You can find the bleeder valve on the fuel Rail. It looks like a tire valve stem. Have someone start or ttry to start the motor over while you hold it down to see if any air is comeing out. Continue to hold untill all the air is out and nothing but fuel is flowing. By this time the engine should be running.

I am a strong believer of the KISS therory, so lets start on the most likely. When you replaced the battery, did you also clean the battery cable connections? If not that is the most likely cause! If not, suggest you get jump your car to make sure where the problem is. If it starts with the jump start then it is in the battery system - battery, battery cables, alternator.

Have you done the standard checks for spark and fuel pressure ?
Testimonial: "Thank you How do i do this ? listen for the fuel pump noise, and as for spark ?"
