Ford Festiva 1998 heater not working.

I have a 1998 Ford Festiva and the heater is not working. I have checked the fuse and the 30 amp fuse where it says heater, is ok. I checked it has volts there and when the fuse is in, the fan is working. When I move the slide control from the cold position to the hot position, now warm air comes out although I can hear the vent inside moving to another position.

I checked the radiator coolant level and it is full. Then when I looked behind the motor I noticed that two hoses have been disconnected, and caps have been put onto where they were connected to.

These two hoses go throught the fire wall, I assume to the heater element inside. I can easily reconnect these two hoses, only I am concerned why they were disconnected in the first place. I guess I will soon find out if I connect them.

Sorry I don't know if the last message sent. So I will send it again.

I checked the coolant and it's full. I noticed a couple of hoses behind the motor have been disconnected and the other ends on the motor have been capped. The two hoses go through the fire wall and maybe to the heater element inside.

I can easily connect them but I am wondering why they were disconnected. Maybe I will find out if I connect them.

CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL. IF IT IS TOO LOW, THEN THE HEATER CORE WILL NOT GIVE YOU HEAT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO. OR PERHAPS THE HEATER CORE IS CLOGGED. CHECK IT OUT AND KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING TOO. GOOD LUCK

  • Anonymous May 16, 2009

I WOULD BET THAT THEY WERE DISCONNECTED BECAUSE THE HEATER CORE IS LEAKING, IT THAT IS TRUE THEN IT WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. NOT A FUN JOB. AT ALL. IT IS LOCATED UNDER THE DASHBOARD. MAYBE IF YOU GET LUCKY, YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO IT THROUGH THE GLOVE-BOX. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU. HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR AN AWESOME RATING AND FOR CONTINUOUSLY USING FIX-YA. KEEP ME POSTED.

1998 HEATER OR HEATER FAN DON'T WORK. Does it have a fuse ?

Yes it does i believe it is a 30 amp. Should be under the dash. Check all your fuses under the dash. Just because it doesn't say heater doesn't mean it don't affect the circuit.

89 ford festiva heater problems

That is the way the festiva is designed. Heat only works on the defrost and the floor. Fresh and AC (if equipped) come through the vents.

Fusible Link

never change a link or fuse with a larger one. It is there to protect the remainder of the system. You need to find out what is wrong and fis that probem.

Fuses under tha hood

it should be written on them if not they go by color so if you ask for a specific color they will know which one will suit and i would guess at 40 and 30amps
