Interior lights will not go off in my 1997 Jeep

name a lamp. there are many, why post with no lamp stated?
did you read the operators guide, on topic yet
open glove box see opr, guide, read interior lights page.
and read where each lamp switch is?
in all cars the door open switch turns them on
or the , dash command switch that does.
some have switches in the lamps domes.
if the manual switches area all off then it must be a door switch stuck
in that case, unplug them all one by one to find the curprit.

1996 jeep grand cherokee no automatic interior lights

1. If you have the light switch in the wrong mode the lights will not operate when you open the door.

2. If the interior lights do not operate at all (ie you cannot switch them on and off manually)then you need to check the fuse for the interior lights.

3. When set to the correct mode, the interior lights will operate from a door operated switch so if the switch has failed the lights will either stay on or not operate at all when you open and close the door. Eventually these door switches fail with repeated use and need to be replaced. (Consider how many times the small door switch has been operated since 1996).

My 2002 jeep grand cherokee laredo windows won't go down lights come on and stay on. Then the lights won't come on.

I had the same problem with mine. I have the same year Jeep. The Remote door lock also wouldn't work (Not on drivers door anyway!). Here's what I had found out from a co-worker with same vehicle. The wires in the door that run to the control panel on door for windows has been broken. You probably have several broken wires inside the "Rubber boot" you see when opening the door. You will have to take off the interior door panel, be careful to remove any wires and rod connectors when doing so. Then open the rubber seal. Find where the wires come in to door. Remove boot. Locate broken wires inside the boot section. You will then need to sodder in a 1'-2' wire to extend the broken wire(s). You may also decide to extend the unbroken wires now, just so you might not have to go through all of this again, later. I hope this helps out. I had found out it is a very common Jeep Grand Cherokee problem.

How to turn off the dome light for 1994 jeep grand cherokee laredo

There should be a switch or rotary dial on the dash to shut off. If it continues to stay on its most likely a faulty door jamb switch. Inside each door there is a little plunger type switch which closes when the door is closed. However it closes a contact when the door opens completing a circuit to the interior lights. If one of the switches is corroded or shorted (meaning the wire is touching metal or internally shorted in the switch) the lights will stay on. You will need to remove each switch separately and disconnect, when the lights go off thats the bad switch.

Sounds like a fuse issue. check your panel for popped accessory fuse.

the overhead light issue may be the door close switch

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Electrical issues.

the button that pushed in when you close the door could be bad its literally like a $10 part and plugs in and is only held in with one screw. My interior lights used to flash on and off and i replaced that and now good as new, but you would need to figure out which door is doing it by pushing the button in manually
