Reconnect 1995 Toyota 4Runner Antenna Motor

The antenna motor for my 1995 Toyota 4Runner was disconnected to prevent my slightly bent antenna from being retracted into my car. Just recently, my antenna finally bent completely off which resulted in purchasing a new antenna. I was wondering how to reconnect the power to the motor as well as how to replace my antenna. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

always put those down before entering a car wash.
the auto parts store will have a cheaper one than the dealership, or try a salvage yard.

SOURCE: Antenna will not retract.

The most likely cause is your antennae mast is broken or has stripped its teeth. The mast is sold separately and contains the snake-like gear. The motor must be removed through the right inner fender well. You may have to open up the gear in the motor to get out the broken piece of the snake-like gear,

SOURCE: can the antenna on a pontiac g5 be bent back straight, its currently been bent in a circle

You probobly can. Unscrew it from the base and bend it back very slowly as not to stress the metal to fast.
At worst case you will have to replace it.
Good luck,
Regards.

Relay #27 in the box under the hood runs only the power antenna on a 1992. For the future here's the parts guide for everything in your jeep. Page 180 has a picture of what you want to pull.

This is a shot in the dark ... spray your antenna with some cleaner or lubricant product. WD-40 comes to mind though this is not a true lubricant. Put a rag at the base of the antenna to keep the spray off the finish of your Toyota.

You may want to check and see if there is a single fuse for the antenna alone. If so then just remove the fuse, How ever, Once you remove that fuse check all your switches, radio wipers, lights, tail lights, blinkers and so on to make sure you didnot take out a fuse that operates more then one feature. If the fuse does work more then one item then you will need to locate the antenna motor and there should be only one wire going to it. Un-plug that wire. It will be a hot wire sobe sure to tape the end up to make sure it doesnot bump metal some place. Just a trick I learned was to take some gasket sealer and dip the end of the wire into the sealant. This will dry and become a rubbery protection cover. But black electrical tape works too for the quick fix. Then tie the wire back away from any possible metal it could flop against or get kicked against and short out your system. Hope this helps, Raz

Antenna - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

If your antenna mast is the type where you can unscrew the mast from the fender, simply do so with a pair of pliers. Most damaged antennas are simply the result of a truck wash or similar mishap, in which the mast is bent.

Manual Antenna
  1. Disconnect the antenna cable at the radio by pulling it straight out of the set. Depending on access, this may require loosening the radio and pulling it out of the dash.
  2. Working under the instrument panel, disengage the cable from its retainers.
On some models, it may be necessary to remove the instrument panel pad to get at the cable.
  1. Outside, unsnap the cap from the antenna base.
  2. Remove the screw(s) and lift off the antenna, pulling the cable with it, carefully.
To install:
  1. When reinstalling, make certain the antenna mount area is clean and free of rust and dirt. The antenna must make a proper ground contact through its base to work properly.
  2. Install the screws and route the cable into the cab. Make certain the cable is retained in the clips, etc.
  3. Connect the cable to the radio; reinstall the radio if it was removed.

Power Antenna Mast
The power antenna system contains a relay. If the power antenna is inoperative, the relay is the first place to look. The actual motor rarely fails.
The power antenna mast is replaceable on the Pick-Up and 4Runners. If the mast is damaged or broken, proceed as follows:
  1. Perform this repair with the battery cables connected. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Remove the antenna nut.
  3. If equipped with a CD player, press the AM and FM buttons on the receiver and simultaneously turn the ignition switch to ACC .
  4. For non-CD player units, press the AM button and simultaneously turn the ignition switch to ACC .
  5. The antenna motor will run, unwinding the mast from the spool. have an assistant guide the mast so it doesn't fall and damage the bodywork. When fully extended, the mast will be released. Remove it, and leave the ignition in the ACC position.
To install:
  1. Insert the new cable so that the teeth face the rear of the vehicle. Feed the cable into the motor until the cable reaches the bottom, about 12 in. (30cm).
  2. Have an assistant ready and prepared to guide the cable. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK . The motor will run, winding the cable onto the spool and drawing the antenna down into the mount.
  3. If the cable does not wind, twist the cable at the top of the housing; the part at the bottom may have turned while being pushed down the hole.
  4. Once wound onto the spool, install the antenna nut even if the antenna is not fully retracted. Test the antenna elevation and retraction; the mast will eventually retract fully.
Hope helped with this (remember rated this post).

How to fix 98 toyota 4runners antenna? It stuck and won't go down or up. But I can hear motor spining when I start Radio. Can somebody Help me~?

This more than likely needs to be replaced. This is not very hard to do,usually a couple of nuts,a wire harness(plug),and you're good to go.You could try to lubricate(WD40) the arial slightly then try to gently push it down or pull it up,but if you have to force it the the drive assembly inside the antenna casing will probably brake.

I have a '98 4Runner and I want to disconnect the power antenna.

turn on the stereo so the antena will come up and where the antena goes in to the fender u will have to go under the hood and look through one of the holes in the inner fender to see the antena motor or u can take the plastic inner fender off from inside of the wheel well to get to antena motor then when u can get to the motor u will see a black fairley large wire wich is the antena wire it self and u should see one more small wire just unplug small wire or clip with wire cutters and tape the ends off with electricle tape as so it wont arc out any where

How can I disconnect the power antenna from my 2001 toyota 4 runner?

Does it keep running all the time and you just want it to stay up. They"re not that hard to replace.
The radio power triggers the antenna and the ant motor can be disconnected in the pass wheel well.

The antenna won't go up or down & motor makes a horrible noise.

mate this problem is easier to solve than you think but it depend s if you are near a place that sells car parts if so just ask them for a new mast and take it home there will be a little crome nut around the arial base undo this and yank the old one out while putting the radio on ,the isides should come out to ,now feed the new one in while turning the radio off the will start to reel the new tail in ,best to have a little helper, the arial will go down and put the crome nut back on problem solved
