Check headlight to ground connections, headlight relay, light switch.
the ground connection is the most likely cause, during the accident the wires were stretch/pulled/moved more than likely causing the ground wire for the lights to disconnect or become loose.

SOURCE: xenon headlight problems

there are 3 things that make the xenon in your car work the bulb, an ignitor, and a control module, you know your bulbs are ok so thats good, now you will want to swap the control modules they are a metal box attached to the headlight assembly its roughly 4"x4" you will remove the hheadlight assemblys to get to the module, there are 4 8mm bolts and then it pulls out, it the light follows the control module then thats what you will need if not you will need an ignigtor, as far as the flickering that is moet likely the module going bad, the company that makes this system is AL (automotive lighting) there is an SIB from BMW about this that says under a warr claim both control modules are to be replaced and the bulb of the faulty headlight, however i cant count the number of times i have done all that and still have to replace the ignigtor, If it is the Ign that is alot harder to swap as you have to dis assembly the entire light assembly

Replace a headlight bulb in my headlight

The car can have Bi-Xenons or halogens lamps, the bulb would be different. The user manual shows which bulb type to use.
Changing the halogen bulb would be quite easy. On the contrary changing Xenon HID's involves some knowhow and should be done by a dealer, they also need to be replaced in pairs.

How to change headlight bulb

On the back of the headlight where the wires enter, you should be able to twist and remove the lamp holder. Be careful with the new bulb if it is halogen, do not touch the bulb!!

Lt. headlight low beam wont work after replacing the bulb.

I assume it didn't work before you changed the bulb either. You'll have to check for voltage at the bulb socket when the low beam headlights are turned on. If there is none you'll have to trace the wire back to where it splits from the right low beam headlight. If there is voltage there you have a problem with the new bulb.

How do i change a headlight bulb on a 2007 520d estate?

first is the headlight Xenon or normal? Xenon : The bulb is situated behind the backing cover on the light and is a clip on cover! remove this cover and the xenon bulb and module will be exposed. turn this unit anti-clock wise direction and it should come out easily. unplug the small wire and replace the bulb and or the small unit that has been removed. DON'T TOUCH THE BULB ! as this will damage it!
Normal: Remove the round cover and the bulb will be exposed !, remove wire connector and un clip the retainer spring, replace bulb!

Did you swap in HID bulbs into a halogen headlight assembly? If so, this is precisely why it's *******--they actually cast LESS light on the road. See this post on HID.
