I have a Peugeot 206 hdi consuming a lot of oil.

It is consuming like a liter of oil a month wich is too much. It has loss power and it overheats if I accelerate too it much like in hills. Coolant consumption is ok it is not getting mixed with the oil. I think the turbo is not working. What could be happing. I bought it from another person 3 years ago. It is a 2005 Peugeot, has 60,000 miles runned.

Is there any leaks you notice if not check the exhaust pipe for traces of oil. Is the exhaust smoking if so then a compression test needs to be done to verify if the piston oil rings and scrapers are in good order

It could be anything but from your problem's description I think that the turbo is causing the problem. Turbo uses high pressure oil to keep the bearing float running and to keep it cool. If turbo seal wears out then oil get into cylinders and burns during combustion process. Please check oil pump and oil filter as well.

SOURCE: peugeot hdi not accelerating fully and oil leak from turbo

Change your engine oil along with oil filter because the same oil is used to cool down your turbo and any dirt means you're going to damage your turbo. Also check the diesel/petrol filter and replace it if not serviced in last two years. Check the hdi pressure (computer diagnose in a garage) because if it is not high enough you can't gain the desired acceleration. If injector seals are leaking then obviously pressure leaks. Clean your turbo sorrounding and check the leakage of oil. In solenoid area If its not enough to drip down or just a little amount that sits with dirt then don't worry (as caused by solenoid seal wear & tear) it has enough life to cover another thousands of miles. Find this solenoid and let it replaced. But if it is from your turbo fan then it doesn't comes out but goes directly in engine to burn with fuel and you can't even find a drop around your turbo housing. Best way is to keep your car serviced in regular intervals.

SOURCE: Overheating/Loss of power

Unless water pump bearing is loose or noisy or the pump is leaking, that's not your problem. Have the system flushed. Thermostat is also likely not the problem but with repeated overheats or near-overheats it will become unreliable so change it as a precaution.

SOURCE: My Peugeot 207 HDI 1.6

these cars do go through turbos due to the grade of oil used when servicing.
peugeot recomend a low saps oil to save the turbos
if the garage you use has not used the correct oil this could one of the reasons for the turbo problems
i would sugest going to your local citizens advice office to see what your rights are

let me know if this helps
cheers

Fuel filter

There is no need to change it frequently. If there is a loss of engine power or if throttle cuts out then may be its the time to change fuel filter. It is recommended by peugeot to change fuel filter (but depends on fuel purity) after every 36000 miles.

You can clean it yourself
Dipp the whole filter body in carosine oil tank and leave it in there for about 20-30 minutes
Pour some petrol in filter with the help of plastic piped and apply a slight air pressure (use a piece of pipe to blow) in the reverse direction (marked with arrows) of fuel supply to clear residue and heavy oil composite that clogged in filter.
Repeating the cleaning process 2-3 times will clean the filter to reuse it without the need of a new one to buy.

Have oil in header bottle on peugeot expert 1.9 no loss of power doesn't overheat been like this for 9 months van runs fine any ideas please help

Hi

On a diesel this problem is often associated with a faulty oil cooler. Given you have no loss of power and no overheating I would be inclined towards this as an initial diagnoses.

The other possibility of course is head gasket failure as oil in header is a classic symptom. Your problem will require further diagnostics but will ultimately be traceable to one or the other of these.
