I have had a problem with it starting in park and only starting in neutral therefore I changed out the neutral safety switch and it seemed to fix the problem for a few days. then it wouldnt turn over at all. I then noticed that the reverse lights stayed on constantly when turning the key on and stays on when shifting to park and other gears. what could be a possible solution?

OK then the switch is part of the gear selector switch on the side of the trans where the shift linkage hooks up. here is a picture and part number.

The switch is on the transmission..It is usually a dealer item but you can get one from Rockauto.com for about 1/4 of what the dealers charge.

Your switch is on the passenger side of the transmission opposite where the shift linkage goes in on the drivers side.It takes a bit of careful prying and wiggling and some solvent to get most to come off. after removing the hardware that holds it on. The switch goes for about $200 but can be taken apart and cleaned...unless the contacts are really burned it will generally work after that. make sure that you keep it flat when taking it apart because stuff inside can fall out easily. Put dielectric grease in there before closing it up.Can't help with schematic...the ones I have I wouldn't wish on anyone. (terrible)

your transmission is in "limp home" mode, the problem is one of the sensors on your transmission. you need to have an obdII scanner connected to read the codes stored in your vehicles computer. this will tell you which sensor has failed
