SOURCE: how can i disconnect my

You can remove it to check it or replace it but im not sure what your asking, if you are trying to disconnect it and drive the truck then thats not possible, the wheels get power from the transfer case, theres no other way. but if you are trying to remove it then you will need to dissconnect the front and rear driveshafts at the differental then remove them from the transfer case, next is to drain the transfer case oil, then un hook connector to case and the linkage, now remove the bolts holding the case to trany, you will see that its bolted on the round part, with bolts ous case slides off, you will need some help to remove and hold on to it when removing the last bolt, i will see if i can get some diagrams for you. the last thing is replacing it is cheaper to use a used transfercase, unless someone can rebuild it cheaper, make sure its not the trany or rear end making the noise.johnjohn2_84.gifjohnjohn2_85.gif

On my 01 Yukon it was the switch in the dash. I took it apart abd found several bad soldier Joints. I found the same problem in the rear AC controller module. You can buy a new module or take yours apart

Transfer case troubleshooting

This is a common problem with the push button 4X4. The most common as the switch, second ist the 4X4 shift actuator motor on tbe side of the transfer case. And tbe third is the tcc module. But first xheck all fuses. Sometimes just simply disconecting the battery for 20 minutes does the trick too.

Vehicle location of transfer case control module on 1996 GMC Jimmy

More likely worn out bearings which are periodically seizing - have you checked the PS pump with the belt off? You should also check the other devices run by the belt for bearing trouble, particularly the idler pulley. Periodic seizing problems with worn bearings on any of these can cause the truck to stall and the low pressure signal.

GMC Yukon XL is stuck in auto 4wd. Service 4wd light is on message center.

First get the codes from the transfer case control module. This will help in diagnosing the problem. You can try pushing the 2hi and 4lo buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds. This should put the transfer case in neutral. Then try going to 2 hi.See if this will get it out of 4wd.Let me know what you find.If you need more help let me know Good luck.

1996 Yukon 4X4 Electronic Shift on Fly.

I had the same problem with the shift on the fly push-button 4x4 on my 97 Suburban. GM Shop manual indicates that it could be due to an encoder error on the actuator motor. Try pulling the transfer case fuse to reset the transfer case control module. Wait at least one minute. Re-install fuse then re-try operation. Did it last week and that saved me a trip to the dealership and extensive troubleshooting.
