Please can anyone help. i cranked my engine the other day, it fired up for a little then died, when i removed the pipes from the fuel filter underneath the car, no fuel came out the pipes but the filter had fuel coming out of it, i'm also not hearing a 2 second "whistle" injection ? sound when my ignition is usually on, please can anyone advise what to do ? I see there was an answer posted for a 1996 diesel 406 by Lloyd Deakin here: http://www.fixya.com/cars/t3682740-ran_peugeot_406_out_diesel_think Which i think seems to be relavant to my problem, but my car is petrol, does it also have a primer system and where to locate it ?

put your voltmeter on the little cable that goes to the starter and check the volts there will turning the key to the start position if you have power ...yes its the starter...if you dont then it could be the starter relay
SOURCE: oil coming out of exhaust and whistling turbo
it sounds like your turbo has packed in firstly the oil seal in your turbo has failed thats why ur seeing oil from exhaust & the whistling from turbo is the vanes in turbo breaking up so i would advise not to use car until new turbo is fitted & inter cooler pipes and inter cooler itself are checked & cleaned for swarf from turbo you can check turbo by disconnecting turbo pipe &inspecting turbo vanes (fins) to see if broken up or any damage to chamber.

fuel filter is under bonnet.under engine cover if fitted.filter is located in a plastic housing.the top of this housing can be removed to expose the filter.job will take apprx 1/2 hour.

Thes have a weak point with the pump in the tank. It is under a cap under the rear seat, get someone to turn the ignition on and listen if no noise give it a tap and see if it whirrs, slacken a pipe on the filter and see if there is pressure, if not the pumps are available from factors or on line.
