02 dodge grand caravan door ajar light comes on while all doors are closed securely.Interior lights then come on.This happens when driving sometimes but mostly when vehicle is parked. On a windy day i even had the alarm keep going off when vehicle parked & locked.I know this all has to do with the door ajar sensor. My problem is I cannot find where the sensor is located. It is the passenger side power sliding door that has the problem.

First I would be looking at the body switches for dirt or rust causing a false signal.. then I would adjust the part of the alarm that the wind affects..it should be adjustable for sensitivity..the dealer service should be able to advise you..if not check with an alarm service company..that installs these systems..good luck..

SOURCE: MY Dodge caravan's sliding closes and locks. When

I had the same problem. The issue is with the switch/sensor that is depressed when the door is closed. On mine, there was a white plastic "boot" on the end of the switch that had worn down/cracked. I went to the hardware store and bought a package of rubber tips (the kind that slip onto a chair leg, or end of a pipe, etc.) I pried off the cracked plastic piece and replaced it with the rubber boot. Viola, problem solved.

If your plastic boot is fine, or you don't want a do-it-yourself fix, the switch is easy to replace, and only costs about $5 at the auto parts store.

I have a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. As you drive along a chime starts going off. No lights on dashboard light up.

Be sure all doors are closed securely including rear hatch. If that still happens one of the door or rear hatch electrical switches may need to be adjusted. If the car has been struck lately, start looking in that area.

Door ajar sensor

Its a thick pin surrounded by a rubber ring/bellows that is in the doorframe of each door. Each pin operates a switch. When the door closes it presses the pin in and when it opens the pin slides out so it protrudes into the door frame. Open each door one at a time and press in the pin with something strong like a shoe heel, this simulates that door being closed. Do it several times, till you find which switch is not working all the time. Change that switch by removing the rubber surround and unscrewing its fasteners.

Could be a worn or defective door switch. That is the first thing I would check.

02 Intrepid interior lights intermittent

the dimmer switch may be going bad--at night do you may see a change in the dash lighting as well --maybe even going off all together---sometimes adjusting the dimmer switch may give a temporary fix -the switch controls dash and dome lights and is a part that does wear with use

I have the same problem and the problem is in the driver's side door, there is a sensor there. I unhooked the wires on my vehicle or you can try taping it down. I hope this helps.

Door ajar and interior lights stay on constantly

The switch that tells the computer that the door is closed is broken or has a loose wire. This causes the computer to think the door is open thus the door ajar and interior light on.Switch should be located on door jam.
