If a manual then the clutch is slipping (check adjustment) or if auto the torque converter clutch or bands and clutch packs are slipping.

2002 ford escape v6 with trans code p1744 and 741

Unfortunately, the possible issues are numerous. The problem is most likely either your torque converter, or electrical issues with your transmission. Without knowing how the vehicle is acting, if it's drivable, when it trips the codes, etc, it makes it more difficult to accurately diagnose.

Here is what ford says about those codes...

SERVICE PROCEDURE
The torque converter clutch may not engage if one or more of the following conditions exist:
- Stuck converter regulator valve
- Stuck solenoid regulator valve
- Stuck bypass clutch control valve
- Stuck pressure failsafe valve
- Pump bore ring groove depth incorrect
- Worn pump shaft or damaged pump shaft seals
- Pump shaft internal sleeve loose (rattles)
- Turbine shaft seals damaged or missing
- Incorrect Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid
- TCC solenoid mechanically stuck or electrically inoperable
- Damaged internal wiring harness
- Incorrect gear ratio (wrong sprockets)
- Damaged or worn stator support
- Worn torque converter hub bushing
- Torque converter clutch worn or damaged
Use a scan tool to monitor the following PID's:
- TCC = Commanded duty cycle for TCC solenoid
- TCCMACT = Actual slip across the TCC, measured in RPM
- RPM = Actual engine speed
- TSS_SRC = Actual turbine shaft speed
- TCCRAT = Speed/Gear ratio of torque converter/transaxle

Hope this helps.

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox. But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please

P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction
P0731 Gear I Incorrect ratio
P0732 Gear 2 Incorrect ratio
P0734 Gear 4 Incorrect ratio
It seems like you were having an issue with your transmission but if you cleared your light and it has stayed off I would just keep a close eye on it.

Is there anything I could do to bring my RPM's down when Im driving in hwy. I have a 96 t100 4x4 stick, stock. At 70mph rpm is at 3300. I changed to manual hubs and that helps a little.

The only way to accomplish that is to change the axle gear ratio. Trucks are generally geared for hauling, towing, plowing, etc, so you have more torque and power at lower speeds. If you change the axle ratio, your low end performance will probably suffer (sluggish acceleration at low speed). Basically, your T100 is not designed for 70mph highway driving.

Transmission codes:

I WOULD TRY REPLACING THE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..A DEFECTIVE SPEED SENSOR CAN CAUSE ALL OF THESE FAULTS..IT IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF TRANS ABOVE SOLENOID PACK..IT IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE ENGINE..IT SCREWS INTO TO TRANSMISSION..A 1 INCH SOCKET FITS IT..ALSO CHECK WIRING TO BOTH SPEED SENSORS..A SENSOR IS ABOUT 35 BUCKS,AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER..GET A NEW ONE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE..FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM..HAVE REPLACED LOTS OF THEM

I got engine code PO700 and PO733 on my 06 charger

P0733-GEAR RATIO ERROR IN 3RD

Theory of Operation
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) constantly calculates the transmission ratio based on the input speed sensor 1 and 2 (N2-N3) signals and the calculated output shaft speed. The intent of this diagnostic is to detect if the transmission is slipping or an invalid gear ratio is present.
  • When Monitored: Engine RPM greater than 450 RPM , output speed greater than 180 RPM , no N2 - N3 input speed sensor errors present, no gear selector lever errors present, no ABS system errors, and all wheel speeds above 450 RPM .
  • Set Condition: No shifting operation and detected gear is not the actual gear. No shifting operation - detected (calculated) gear is less than actual (expected) gear, no plausible gear is calculated, actual turbine speed - calculated turbine speed is greater than 300 RPM or calculated transmission ratio is above threshold. During an Upshift detected (calculated) gear is less than actual (expected) gear. During Downshift - detected (calculated) gear is less than actual (expected) gear.
Possible Causes
  • LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID
  • OTHER TRANSMISSION DTC's PRESENT
  • INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE
Always perform the NAG1 Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. See: Transmission Control Systems\Testing and Inspection\Procedures\NAG1 Automatic Transmission

Diagnostic Test
1. CHECK FOR OTHER TRANSMISSION DTC's
With the scan tool, check transmission DTC's
Are there any solenoid and/or solenoid supply voltage DTC's present?
YES >> Refer to the Transmission category and perform the appropriate symptom(s).
NO >> Go To 2 2. CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL
Check the transmission fluid level.
Is the fluid level correct?
YES >> Go To 3
NO >> Properly adjust the fluid level.
Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. See: Verification Tests\Transmission Verification Test 3. CHECK IF DTC IS CURRENT
With the scan tool, record the Environmental Data and erase Transmission DTC's. NOTE: If the TCM detects and stores a DTC, the TCM also stores the vehicles operating conditions under which the DTC originally set and is located in scan tool under Environmental Data. Before erasing any stored DTC's, record any available data to assist in duplicating the conditions in which the DTC originally set.

Using the Environmental Data recorded earlier, test drive the vehicle while trying to duplicate the conditions in which the DTC originally set.
Did the DTC P0733-GEAR RATIO ERROR IN 3RD reset?
YES >> Repair internal transmission as necessary.
Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. See: Verification Tests\Transmission Verification Test
NO >> Go To 4

4. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS
The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
Wiggle the wiring and connectors while checking for any possible open or shorted circuits.
Check for any Service Information Tune-ups or Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were there any problems found?
YES >> Repair as necessary.Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. See: Verification Tests\Transmission Verification Test
NO >> Test Complete.
