For safety reasons, only a dealer can get your key code from Ford and make you a key. You will need proof of ownership and your VIN number and ID. 1-800-241-3673.
You can try calling Ford Roadside Assistance. They may be abe to help.

Sometimes, you can take a long, thin screwdriver and lift up the door handle. Slide the screwdriver in the slot under the handle. Move around till you see the lock button move and try to pry it up. Also, local police might help with a slim jim.

No you can not retrieve the keyless entry code with the vin number. However you may be able to retrieve the actual key code and have a blank cut. The only problem is your vehicle is a 98 model and that is the cut off on how far back ford goes so yours may or may not be avaliable. You can have your local dealer retrieve this but they would have to have a picture ID and proof of ownership.
The only other option is to have someone use a jocklock to get it open, it is pretty easy to do on this vehicle.

Yes the Dealer can unlock your Mountaineer using the VIN# to retrieve the door code and can also cut a new door key for you too.
You'll need the Vin# and prof of ownership to the Mountaineer, such as the bill of sale ect:
Good luck and hope this helps.

I cant get the keyless entry code to my 2003 mercury mountaineer. i bought the truck used so i never had the code but i locked my keys in the truck and i need the key code. is there a default code?

You will have to go to the dealer with tittle, and proof
of ownership and VIN# to get the factory code.

You should have 2 keys and a valet key, then program them,
then change the Keyless Door Code

Door lock code..how do i fuind my code

the door lock code is on the key-less entry module, that is located
behind the lower plastic panel on the passenger side rear panel right below the seat belt height adjuster. Not the panel with the seatbelt adjuster but the one below it. No tools were needed and it took me all of 5 minutes. Just pop off the front of the panel closest to the door and pull it back. Use a light and you can see the large 5 digit code on top of the module.

2001 mountaineer It has a touchpad lock on the outside on the driver door. How can I get this working and programmed?

If you don't have the original factory code you'll need to contact Ford/Mercury customer service through their web site and provide the VIN for the vehicle. Once you have the original code, you can program your own number by following these steps:

1. Enter the factory set code.
2. Within 5 seconds press the 1-2 key
3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Each number mus be entered within 5 seconds of each other.
4. Doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that your new code has been entered and accepted.

NOTES:
1. The factory code will still work even after you have entered your new personal code.
2. Entering a new personal code will erase the previous personal code.

1997 mercury mountainer locked keys inside, need key code or where to find it.

key code is in owner manual packet on plastic or metal tag. your delaer can get it with VIN number and ID & registration proving you are owner of vehicle.

Possibly, you can take long thin screwdriver and slide it under outside door handle slot (lift handle) and move it around until you see inside lock move. then try to move lock/unlock rod.

Entry code om drivers door

The keyless entry module is located in the rear of the vehicle on the driver's side. You will need to partially remove the left rear panel in the cargo area. You will then see the keyless entry module bolted behind a metal reinforcement bar. There is a sticker on the module that has the 5 digit entry code.
