The car has progressively gotten worse. It has been rough idling when stopped at a light or anywhere else, lights will flicker during this time and still do it, although not as bad, while driving. Also my acceleration seems to be limited in a sense. It has been difficult to get my car up to speed. This last problem occurred one day when I pulled out of a drive and accelerated quickly to beat traffic and something happened and I was all of a sudden limited on acceleration and felt like my car was not going to make it home. Any one have a similar issue or know what it might be? Alternator and battery have been checked with multimeter, alternator is pushing out 14-15 volts.
Raymond, is this a stick shift or automatic? Here are some general solutions to your problem, it might not be the one, but its a start. 1.Rough idle could be caused by dirty fuel injectors, dirty air filters, fuel pump not delivering enough fuel to the engine. The air filter is an easy check.

The purge valve is right underneath the intake manifold, it the valve that has a hard plastic hose attached to it that runs back towards the fuel tank. But I don't think that is it. I had the same problem and I changed the MAP thermostat, and the leak detection pump. Here are the codes from the OBD27cc DMTL leakage279b Thermostat map cooling

Replace your battery when its being tested there not testing it under a heavy enough load. A battery could have a dead cell in it and still show good on the charger. I've had that problem a few times.
SOURCE: Car is shaking at idle and then 60 mph
BAD SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS AND STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER OR WEAK FUEL PUMP WILL CAUSE ENGINE TO SURGE.
