Headlights keep switching from drive lights to headlights

On my 1996 sonoma i turn headlights on, all signals work, brakes lights are good, after driving a bit the drive lights and headlights start switching back and forth. Is there a relay or sensor to control this?

Check the headlight switch for burned contacts or a heat dis-colored connector to it. If u find either replace the headlight switch and the connector as a pair.

With headlights on my tail lights dim, left brake light doesn't work and left turn signal blinks fast but with headlights off everything works properly.

this indicates a problem battery (have a load test done on it) , drive belt adjustment or condition or problem alternator out put
with the head lights on there is insufficient capacity from the battery and/or alternator to keep everything running as it should

I have a 1996 gmc Sonoma. Headlights will work sometimes.

Consider the dimmer switch on the steering wheel; the wires from it wouldn't affect the tail lights, but could possibly affect the headlights. Hopefully loose wires from the assy is the problem.. replacing the unit might be difficult. or expensive.

Why are al my lights coming on when I mash the brake peddle or use left turn signal

Spray electrical cleaner in where the emergency flasher switch is. Turn it on/off rapidly several times. Spray into the directional switch, too. Dirty contacts there are a common source of trouble. Might need a new multi-function switch if cleaning does not fix it.

Checked all fuses-good, swapped bulbs-good, hazard lights-good, head lights good, turn signals-good but no brake lights. 1995 chevy silverado

Does the turn signals or hazards work in the rear?? Yes... it may be the brake switch or the turn signal switch (power goes from battery, to the brake switch then to the turn signal switch, then to the lights. No? .. again.. possibly turn signal switch or the wiring between cab and bed.

Air bag remove 98 gmc sonoma

It's unlikely the turn signal switch. Try disconnecting the switch mounted directly above the brake pedal. If the light turns off the problem is in the brake switch. They commonly go bad and can be picked up at a gm dealer for about $15.
