SOURCE: Transmission Control Module

Before condemning the transmission, I would check the shift cable for proper operation. Look at the side of the transmission where the shift cable attaches. Have someone shift the transmission from PARK to FIRST. The engine should not be running. If the operating lever on the transmission moves, then you probably do have an internal transmission problem. 78151957.gif
If the operating lever does not move, you have a broken shift cable or it has popped of it's attachments at the operating lever or gear shift handle.

A bad Transmission Control Module (TCM) would not keep it from shifting. In the event of a bad TCM, the transmission would go into fail safe mode and you could continue driving the vehicle.

SOURCE: tcm repairs

Controls how the tranny shifts. Usually hard to change on newer vehicles because it is located inside the tranny. Be more specific.

Location for tcm module for. 2001 Chevy Impala

Your vehicle has a PCM not TCM . PCM - powertrain control module . Has both the transmission an engine control inside one module. Where ever the engine computer is under the hood that's where the transmission control is .

I have a 2009 Chevy Avalanche LS and I got the P0700 code, how easy is this to fix? where is the TCM located? If this is a dealer service how much?

DTC P0700: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination
The transmission control module (TCM) uses the (GMLAN) to signal the engine control module (ECM) that the TCM is requesting malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination. This happens when the TCM has determined that a failure affecting emissions has occurred in transmission control system. When the ECM receives the message from the TCM, DTC P0700 will set.
DTC P0700 can not be cleared from the ECM until the related TCM codes have been cleared.
This is something best left to a qualified repair shop , doesn't need to be the dealer ! AMMCO could fix it . This code is telling that other codes are stored in the transmission control module . Need a professional type or factory scan tool to check these . As to how much it will cost , no telling without knowing the codes in the TCM !

What is tcm internal memory error. Check engine came on. Code is p0605

Transmission Control module; It is monitored when the ignition key is on. In short, the software has failed and does not match a calculated value. This is an internal fault that requires TCM replacement.
