Here's your book info is below...
Most auto parts stores carry Haynes Manuals. You can order them from Haynes if needed. Or...often they are carried in your local library.

I have done Ford and Toyota clutches using these books. Clutch replacement is not hard, just time consuming...And easier if you have a lift.

Note: If like many vehicles, don't forget to replace the engine rear main seal while you have access with the fly wheel off.

You can call Haynes and ask specifically if the book covers the repair you are attempting. I have called them to get more specific wiring diagrams not always provided with the books. Very helpful in providing tech data... I have a Haynes manual for all my vehicles...makes maintenance and repair much easier than researching every I need to do something to my vehicles.

Best of luck finding the information you need...

SOURCE: clutch slips in all gears

i had mine replaced for $800. Saturn dealer wanted 1300-1500. I guess they have to turn the engine and there is a lot of labor involved.

I'm replacing the clutch. I have removed all the bolts and separated the the housing slightly but cannot totally separate the two. I'm thinking I may be missing a step.

in the same area of the bolt wholes there will be dowels sometimes the gearbox just needs to be pryed to seperate also make sure the driveshafts are completely removed from the gearbox shift cables and hydraulic line is removed mountings are removed completely out of the gearbox way.sometimes the loom or water hoses routed over the gearbox can restrict and its common for the cv joint flange on the gearbox differential to hook on the metal shim plate thats sandwiched between the engine and gearbox

Clutch is slipping

That is a bit like asking how long is this piece of string in my pocket?

You give no vehicle details or history so the answer must be generic. Clutches can slip if they are maladjusted and don't have working clearance. Some adjust automatically and some need periodic adjustment.

Clutches can slip if they are heavily contaminated with oil and so if that is the case discovering and rectifying the leak must be part of the repair. In all other cases clutch slip is caused by simple wear and tear or because of weak or broken springs.

In almost all cases access is gained to the clutch by removing the gearbox. There are a few exceptions.

Removing the gearbox of some models is simple and straightforward and other models difficult and complicated requiring much dismantling.

Clutch , presure plate and gearbox remove

You need the right equipment and knowledge to do this job there are a lot of cables wires etc that need to be removed before the gearbox can be loosened and removed.
There are also a lot of special tools required and the job is best done on a ramp or pit to gain access.
Trying to do this on the ground would be difficult and very dangerous also the engine needs to be suspended when the gearbox mounts are removed.
It is impossible to remove the clutch pressure plate, plate and hydraulic bearing on the C4 without removing the gearbox.
Take it to a garage/ clutch specialist.

Transmission slipping

This normally means your clutch is worn down and needs replacement. Much less likely is that the clutch pedal travel needs adjustment.

Replacement of the clutch requires removal of the gearbox and is much easier with a shop hoist. I'd recommend replacing the pressure plate assembly as well.

There is an oil seal on the gearbox/transaxle input shaft. If this has failed it will leak oil on to the clutch. It might be able to be replaced by just removing the gearbox again to access the seal. Most likely though is, the gearbox will need to be opened up to replace it.

Hi

If your clutch is slipping the clutch plate is worn out and will have to be changed. This involves engine and gearbox has to be taken out - then the gearbox has to be sperated from the engine to remove the clutch assembly and replace the clutch plate with a new one.

There is no adjustment on this clutch as it is hydraulic and therefore is self adjusting.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.
