2004 Chrsyler Pacifica Won't Start

Lights and radio turn on, but just clicks when I try to turn engine. No check engine light, no codes. Sometimes it turns on without a problem; sometimes it takes several tries. Replaced battery, crank sensor. Check engine light on before replaced sensor, but no codes; just replaced on advice of mechanic. Prior problems are same as some other posters, fuel gauge going haywire--fixed with some computer codes, but now this. Help!!

2 possible problem come to mind:

  • Bad ignition switch; faulty switch will occasionally make contact but not every time
  • Bad starter; less likely but possible; a bad starter will function when it's cold but when it heats up, takes much more power to make it work
I hope this helps with your problem and wish you the best of luck. Take care!

I had the same problem with a 2004 pacifica. Mechanics could not figure it out.Car had power and wouldn't always start. It was the main ground cable located on the drivers side. At first glance it appeared the cable was fine but when I cut into the plastic covering I saw some corrosion present. It was just enough to keep it from starting like it should. The replacement battery terminal was $10 at Advanced Auto Parts. Vehicle is starting up just fine now.

I had the same issue. car would not start all the time but had power to the rest of the vehicle. At first glance the wire appeared fine but after further inspection I noticed some corrosion on the ground wire. Its located on the drivers side near the front wheel. The replacement battery terminal with ground wire was $10 at Advanced Auto Parts. No more starting issues. Pretty easy fix.

2004 chrysler pacific will start sometimes but sometimes won't

I would suspect the fuel pump is the problem, it may be sticking at times and this causes a no start. The pump is located inside the fuel tank and it is electric.

Each wheel has a sensor. Theres more to it than the sensors. have the repair shop check it over for you and recommend repairs.

Car won't crank & makes a clicking noise when ignition is turned.

Is this the original battery? Have u had it tested? The no crank, clicking noise is classic dead battery symptoms, lights can still work, but not enough power to turn engine over. If it's the original battery, it's at the end of it's life cycle, and should be replaced. U can get the battery tested for free at any parts store.
