If there are leaf springs in the rear of both vehicles and the centre bolts of the springs are the same distance apart then it will fit unless the wheels on one are closer to the body than the other. (track) A tape measure will prove this.. The drive pinion and tail shaft u-joint set up should be the same. Check that the diff ratios are the same or you will have transmission problems ( this is the most important point). Difference between front and rear diffs.

SOURCE: how to adjust rear brakes on 1993 chevy k1500 4x4

should be a regular break shoe setup, there should be a hole in the backing plate to adjust with a screwdriver but i find it's better to pull the brake drum off and blow out all the dust (just don't breath it) then you can check to make sure the wheel cylinders aren't leaking and all the springs are good. it's also a good idea to pull off the brake adjusters to clean and lubricate them. if you need to replace anything and your not familiar with brake shoe setups then do one side at a time and remember short shoe to the front long shoe to the rear.

I'm looking to replace the rear axle on my 1997 4 door 4x4 GMC Yukon 3.73 gears would a rear axle from a 1998 Yukon 4door 4x4 with 3.73 gears bolt directly to my 1997 Yukon

yes
the housings will be the same
clue here --if the diff center comes into the housing from the front not a problem
if it comes in from the rear ( tin cover removed ) replace the complete housing as you will have to have expertise in resetting the bearing pre-loads for the diff center bearings

How do I remove a rear end from a 1993 chevy z71 4x4 1/2 ton pickup?

Fairly simple process( but not always easy,Just warning you in advance) 1. Disconnect rubber brake line from top of axle.Plug appropriately to prevent fluid loss. 2. Disconnect e-brake cables. (beside the frame on driver's side) 3. Remove shocks ( or just diconnect at either end) 4. disconnect driveshaft at axle and leave in trans (if possible) to prevent fluid loss. 5 Axle can now be removed by either removing the bolts at each end of the springs or by removing the u-bolts attaching the axle to the springs

1993 chevy 1500 4x4 rear end compatable with a1998 yukon 4x4

as long as the gear ratio matches up and the mounts measure identical..if the gears are different it wont work when 4 whell power is needed..there is normally a tag on the punkin cover that has numbers on it like 3.83 or such if these numbers are the same it should fit..even tho its 5 years difference..

The junkyard you get it from will be able to show you a listing (usually on paper or a computer printoff) of the years that coincide with your particular year model.
