Hello, i got a 2000 expedition 5.4 replaced starter, solenoid, battery , neutral safety switch still only a click at the starter, won't crank. won't crank even jumping the solenoid. any help please
Try to turn the motor over by hand. If you can't. Remove the serpentine belt and you'll most likely find a frozen alternator or water pump or something.
Testimonial: "yes the motor turns over. thanks for your feed back anything else to try ?"
i can turn the motor over by hand thanks anything else
Use a jumper cable, attach the ground to the battery and the other end of the ground to the ear of the starter. Then try to turn the truck over. I've seen a bad ground cause this. Make sure you're getting 12 volt signal to the small wire when the key is in the start position
grounded the starter no change, will ck for 12 volts from signal wire, thank you
got 12volt at signal wire, returned rebuilt starter and replaced with new one, replaced ignition switch on steering coloumn ,upper solenoid on firewall new positive cable to starter, fuseable link good , solenoid on new starter makes a squealing noise will engage but won't spin. can jump starter off vehicle seems ok, hook all wires up and let hang and all i get is a squealing noise from solenoid, but starter gear will still push out but not spin. think it is starter issues ? what's the odds of 2 starters being bad ? any thing else to try ? thank you l
Is the right bendix on starter change position of ring gear incase there is a bad spot on it I mean turn engine over by hand then see will starter engage battery disconnect turning by hand safety first

Check fuseable link at battery if fitted
Done all the stuff recomend including redoing the useable links at the battery. Still nothing.
This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine. Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter.
·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's pinion gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck pinion gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

Sounds like it could be the alternator. Call your local Auto Zone store and inquire with the cars symptoms. They give free advice and even let you use their tools for free.

if you notice this van should have a statrer solenoid on the fender as well as on the starter, clean the body of the solenoid on the fender area and make sure that the ground cable is secure and tight do not wiggle which is just making it loose if it is so go under the vehicle and make sure that the cable is tight
