When I use the key fob, or the interior open/close button, the liftgate opens about 1 inch, then 3 warning beeps, then closes and latches.
However, if I pull the latch manually,(as you would on a non-automatic liftgate) and pass that "1 inch" point, the motor kicks in and raises the liftgate.
Most of the time, it shuts okay, but there have been a few random times where I get the 3 warning beeps (for no reason, there is no obstruction) and it won't shut.
I have the Nissan Quest Model V42 Service Manual...(it's a digital pdf flie) and believe it or not, I cannot find the answer in there.
I've done quite a bit of research, but to no avail....I would truly appreciate any ideas anyone has to offer.
The lift gate motor needs to be replaced. Preferably at the dealer ship. Its a pain to replace and most shops will do shoddy work and destroy your interior when doing it.
You should open the tailgate and pull the handle and at the same time push the hook back so that it is not in the way of the lock bar when go to close it. Sounds like it just got jammed and should be able to be fixed with out having to replace. Assuming that it is not rusted and seized.
Not yet, but if you remove it and take a ladies fingernail file and file between the handle and bracket then use whit lithium greese (plenty) you should be fine for quite a while. Vermonter.

Could it be the fuse ? More then likely not a fuse . Automatic back door system has two electronic control modules involved in the operation of the opening an closing of the door .BCM - body control module and the automatic back door control module . Your best bet ,have a qualified repair shop diagnose the problem .
Yes, the 2019 Ford Explorer Sport has a power liftgate that includes a rear hatch window that can be opened independently from the liftgate.
To open the rear hatch window, press the button on the key fob twice within three seconds, or press the button located on the liftgate handle twice. Alternatively, you can also use the interior switch located on the overhead console to open or close the rear hatch window.
The endgate/liftgate can be locked or unlocked by operating either one of the front door lock switches, your's doesn't do this ?

I would say one or both of the the hydralics (one on each side of the hatch) has gone bad. You can usually find replacements at big auto parts stores or order them (EBAY or other sites) online.
The lift gate motor needs to be replaced. Preferably at the dealer ship. Its a pain to replace and most shops will do shoddy work and destroy your interior when doing it.
