You have the wrong KEY if it won't turn any locks.
You can use the KEY fob from another Passat.
The one you have was most likey not the original
and the car was reprogrammed to except that FOB.

The Fuse panel Is inside the DRIVES side.
Open the Driver door. Look at the side of the DAShboard.
THat Giant "B" Shapped plastic cover pops off.

Check the fuses...IF any are broken, black or no good.
REplace them

Hope this helps

    Well, I assumed incorrectly....

Yes the RED light should light up when pressed.

You will have to use a tiny screw driver or thin dull butter knife,

On the opposite side of the buttons. About 3/4 up on the FOB.

Their is a thin ****. That slides back. And you should be able to get

to the battery. I don't know the size as my key is lost at the moment.

But I am confused as to how you use the FOB for the alarm.

    If the batt is dead.

You can dis-sable the Airbags by removing the Fuse.

Located on the side of the dashboard.

Open the Driver door and look on the side of the dash.

Remove the Giant "B" looking piece of plastic.

Their should be a white card showing the locations for the

fuses. One will have the airbag symbol.

Remove it. Not sure why you want to remove the Airbags.

Please only leave the fuse out while working the car

and replace it for safety reasons.

    Hope this helps..

My interior lights wont work in my vw passat 2.0 tdi sport 2007

  • There is a fuse box on the drivers side either under the dash or on the aids of the dash. One of them fuses could be blown.

  • The other thing that could be going wrong is the harness on the driver side door. If you open the drivers door you will see a harness stretching from the frame to the door. You can get into that harness and look for broke, bulged or rusted wires and splice in new ones. This is common with aged vehicles because of the amount that door is used.

Interior lights stay and alarm goes off every time i lock it

Your car thinks a door is open , thus the light stays on. When you lock the doors with the remote it activates the alarm system. 10 sec later it senses that the a door is open and alarm sounds.
I have a 99 passat as well and I just went outside to see where the switch on the door is. Can't see one anywhere , it must be inside the door (part of the latch mechanism). I tried to arm the alarm system by locking the doors with the remote while the door was still open , sure enough the alarm went off about 15 secs later.

fuses are usually in the glove box or under the drivers dash or under the drivers side hood either physically inspect every fuse by pulling them one by one or the aid of a test light and a good ground to the test light

Electrics on my VW Passat TDI 2001

check all the fuses on the fuse panel (located on the end of the dashboard). Behind the plastic door, drivers side. Then see if all the windows will go up and down; locking and unlocking the door with the key in the door lock. You have to hold the key in the unlock position to make this option work.
