SOURCE: Nissan Sentra 2000 model. Thick White smoke coming out of exhaust

Is the car runnig little rough on cold start up in themorning for few seconds?? Because I have done quite a few headgaskets on QG18 Sentra aka 1.8 liter nissan sentra. here is the test. Fill up your overflow bottle to the full mark and check the coolant level in about 5 days.(drive it normally as if nothing is going on) If the level is down, your head gasket is gone. How about the check engine light , is it on?? post results.

SOURCE: My 03 Maxima (3.5l 255 hp) started burning oil at

All cars will lose a certain amount of oil because you cannot seal an engine completely nor do you want to. Oil is lost at the valves, the piston rights and some oil is spread into the intake as blow-by occurs. This is normal to loss a quart of oil within 4,000 miles. However you are using a synthetic oil which is a man made oil and has different charactaristic than regular oil. You will loss more oil using oils like Mobil 1, but that is normal as well.

SOURCE: Car stalls when put in 'drive'

Check your air horn (big rubber boot) to the throttle body. It may have a crack on the underside and when you put it in drive and the engine torques to that side the crack opens and causes it to die.

Burning smell in turn on the heater and out side to 2004 Honda accord LX 4 Door

Can you tell if the smell is coming more from the outside(under the hood), or the inside? I can only guess from the info so far. If the smell is from under the hood turn the heater on recirculate and you won't smell air from outside the car. Not sure where you are from, but here in New England it is time for mice inside the heater boxes.

What would cause a burnt plastic smell under the hood of my 2013 Chevrolette Equinox?

Hi Mike, You mentioned the turn signal switch can cause burning plastic smell from under the hood (12 years ago on a Chevy)

I drive a 2005 Acura MDX Touring 4D SUV. Two weeks ago, I noticed a light flickering behind the VTM-4 button. At a stop light, I turned on the left blinker and it wouldn't stop blinking.

An hour before, my SUV would not start. When I turned the steering wheel slightly right, the car finally started. I was performing deliveries, so I couldn't take a chance for the car not to start again. Therefore, I just kept the car running to finish my shift.

When the blinker would not shut off, I had to end my shift. Once I arrived home, I just parked the car: The left blinker continued to blink. I tried to start the car again and it just clinked along with the blinking left turn signal.

The next morning, I attempted to start the car again. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I turned the steering wheel slightly right and it started. However, the left blinker remained on.

I tried to start the car once again and only heard clicking. All of a sudden, I smelled a burning plastic smell and a small amount of smoke came from under the hood.

I was thinking about pulling the fuse to the turn signal. I've had past challenges with starting the car and the VTM-4 and engine light light on. OBD codes produced a Bay 2 Sensor 2 O2 sensor. In the past, my left fog light got knocked off and the connectors are exposed.

Would greatly appreciate your expert advice on what I can do to start this car up and to cancel out the left turn signal. Thank you for your time.

There's a Rubber burning smell coming from under

check your alternator, power steering or air conditioning belts, unless you picked up whilst driving from the road any plastic bag onto the exhaust pipe and stuck and melts on it.

Battery, starter, and alternator good, but car won't start, or hesitates to start. What is wrong?

Check your fuses first under the hood and under the dash. Better hope they blew before you did major damage. If you find the ones that blew check what they ran and start checking out your electrical system in that area.Hope whatever started burning was just hot wires and not a ruined electrical system. If there is extra stereos wires or security systems installed (not factory) check that area and if possible disconnect them that may take care of the problem

Smell of burning oil out of heater vents

Have you checked under the hood,Mark? The heater commonly pulls outside air thru the vents and can get air coming up from the engine,so I'd look for a smell outside the car, under the hood.Let me know what you find.
You can alleviate it some by using the recycle air button on your heater, but you need to find the source quickly,so you don't have a fire. don-ohio (:^)

I recently had a 100,000 major service on my 2004 TL. Within a couple days I noticed a pronounced smell of burning oil. I have since noticed a puddle of oil has formed under the car and just today there...

It's probably OK to drive. I imagine they failed to get the oil filter properly seated and you're getting a little leak there. DO BE SURE to check the oil level before you drive it and add if necessary.
