Check your battery connection to be sure they are clean. Next, check the ground cable.

  • Scott Morris Dec 07, 2013

pulled the battery, battery box, disconected and cleaned all 4 grounding wires. the battery is only 2 months old/ cleaned posts anyway, cleaned connectors, metal fuse's on top of battery.... car started right up! guess it had a bad ground. good to go

The keyless entry system consists of the following components:

Did you program the new key fob ?

Remote Transmitter Programming NOTE: All remote transmitters are programmable and must be set at the same time.
  1. Turn the key from OFF to RUN four times within three seconds, ending in RUN. The locks will then lock and unlock, confirming program mode has been entered.
  1. Press any button on each remote transmitter to be programmed. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.
  1. If additonal remote transmitters are to be programmed, repeat Step 3 within 7.5 seconds or steps 2 and 3 if more than 7.5 seconds have elapsed.
  1. To exit program mode, turn the ignition to START or wait 7.5 seconds.
  1. NOTE: Failure to wait at least 20 seconds will cause programming failures. Wait at least 20 seconds after turning the key to OFF or after the last remote transmitter has been programmed to activate a remote transmitter for testing or verification

03 mustang dash and tailights are working

if you installed an aftermarket stereo, the tail lights run through the illumination. make sure all wires are hooked hot to hot and ground to ground. if you installed it while battery was hooked up and touched a wire, most likely blew a fuse

No power to dash, key in ignition does nothing.

If I understand correctly, the headlights and brakelights work but the vehicle will not start and the dash lights do not work. That sounds impossible, so I'll merely suggest that you check the battery connectors and see that they are tightened down snug.

You should not be able to easily move them with a pliers. Sometimes, if you loosen them just a tad, and twist them a little, and retighten, you get better contact.

The brake lights, dash lights and head lights won't work

Check all fuses in dash and under hood. Check for any fuse links that may be burnt.
The lights all work on direct battery power without key on,so it is probably a fuse problem.
