SOURCE: harmonic balancer

Remove the hood, drain and remove the radiator, remove the belts, loosen the bolt into the balancer, replace part way, hook up a harmonic balance puller, tighten until balancer come free, remove puller, remove HB bolt, remove balancer.
Check seals before replacing, if damaged, replace, check keyway, replace woodruff key if needed.
Install is the reverse.

SOURCE: BAD HARMONIC BALANCER

To remove the harmonic balancer on my 1992 Pathfinder, I needed to loosen the alternator and power steering belts, remove the cooling fan (4 10 mm nuts), remove the radiator (2 10 mm  bolts hold it to the frame, remove top and bottom hose [The drain **** is covered by what appears to be a coolant line], as well as the overflow tube to the reservoir. With a 3/4" impact gun and a 27 mm socket, remove the bolt that retains the alt, ps shieves and the harmonic balancer to the crankshaft. With a large 3 jaw puller, remove the harmonic balancer with the pully sheives as an assembly. I do not recommend attempting the removal without the puller.
To  put it back on, you will need a large torque wrench for the crankbolt and a small torque wrench for with a crowsfoot for the fan nuts.

SOURCE: 1993 Geo Prizm Lsi Harmonic Balancer

Yes a harmanic balancer from tha corolla is the same thing. I had to do the same thing with my 95 geo. It works out to be a lot cheaper buying for a toyota than a geo.

SOURCE: HARMONIC BALANCER

I have a '94 Tempo, it had a "ticking" sound. It was the "harmonic balancer" (crankshaft pulley) a local mechanic changed it for $60, the part cost me $120 (I work for a Ford dealership) $180 without employee discount. you can get one for much less at a junkyard if you can find one. Good luck, Sean

Why is it hard to get balancer pulley off 98 neon? Tried a pulley puller and impact. Still no luck. What should I do?

Did you take out the center bolt? You have to remove the center bolt, then use a harmonic balancer puller. Not the two or three armed pulley puller, but a harmonic balancer pulley puller-the pullers with jaws that hook around the outside of pulley can ruin a harmonic balancer.
Use the impact gun to remove the center bolt. You won't need an impact gun to remove the balancer pulley. The balancer puller will take it right off the crankshaft, no problem.

Does the Harmonic balancer go bad on 98 corvettes

Balancers don't seem to follow any particular pattern as far as failures go. Most common problem is that the outer ring turns on the hub and gives incorrect timing index. Generally you can find lots of good replacements in local scrapyards. If the balancer has become loose on the crankshaft, most times that isn't caused by the balancer but by the center bolt not being tight. If that has happened you need to carefully check the crank snout for damage or anything you put there will come off again.
If you are doing any performance upgrades, there are some good aftermarket balancers available. Check with your sanctioning body to see what they allow or mandate.
So, do they go bad? Sometimes. Does it happen often? Not really, but if it does there are options for repair. To see if yours is bad, match it with another known good one or use a piston stop and find tdc. Don't know how? ask and I'll give you that info.
