Check your battery terminals , are they clean and tight ? Next try to jump start your car. It may be that you have a bad battery.

SOURCE: 1997 mountaineer has electricity but wont start, no ticking

You have a bad starter if all your connections are good and your battery is measuring 12.7 volts and above with engine off.

SOURCE: My 1999 Mercury Mountainer wont start I've

Since your lights don't dim when you turn the key, the starter isn't getting power at all. There is a large cable that runs from the battery to the starter, it should have battery voltage at all times. If it does, then check the smaller wire at the top of the solenoid, it should have battery voltage only when you turn the key to start. If that wire doesn't have voltage when you turn the key to start, look under the dash on the steering column. There should be a thick wire (about 12 gauge) that is red with a light blue stripe. This is the start wire. Test it for voltage when you turn the key to start. If you don't get voltage there, replace the ignition switch. If you do get voltage there, try starting it in neutral. The gear selector switch interrupts the starter circuit if the car is in gear so you can't grind the starter in gear or start it in gear. If this switch gets a bad spot on the contact, it can keep it from starting. It will only allow the starter to work in park and neutral. If it starts in neutral, then you need to replace the gear selector switch. If you get voltage at the ignition wire under the dash and it won't start in neutral, then you need to trace out the wire from the starter because it has a break in it and will have to be replaced.

I have a 2006 Chrysler Sebring 2.7L. having issues starting. replaced starter and battery

wow test the alternator next, 11 to 15vdc less is bad ALT(AT BAT TERMINALS LUGS)
find a shop that can do electrics.
keep and open mind.
say will not crank , not will not start or answers WILL BE WRONG
so it started and they did not once check all fuses and the alternator
if they replaced the ALT and did not remove the NEG lug from the battery then the blow up the 100amp huge alt fuse
making alt dead forever.
or the other 3 alt fuses blown.
find a real shop with real ASE techs,

also learn that ALT can short one of its huge internal 3 phase DIODE
and now the ALT I HUGE NASTY NOISE GENERATOR AND LAMPS FLICKER AND ALL COMPUTER IN THE CAR GO STARK MAD.
WE SCOPE THE ALT TO SEE THAT HUGE NOISE ON THE BATTERY.

BAD ALT i BET.
THE WORST FOR HE WORST.
OR BAD GROUNDS TO ALL THAT.

96 Mercury villager I turn the key and nothing .all light and everything works but it don't even turn over when I turn key there is a ticking sound coming from the fuse box

that ticking noise means the relay is working so you should hit the starter with some heavy metal pipe, tool or anything a couple of hits should work then try to start it if the car start or make a different sound you will need to replace the starter

My dash is ticking and the dome and door lights are flashing; what could be wrong?

the ticking noise will be from a faulty relay and will not be covered by codes. At best you will have to locate the clicking relay and replace it . IT will have something to do with the interior lights ,door switches and may be the light control module.

2007 ford ranger 4 litre wont start. No electrical power at all. Fuse box ticks.

Sounds like a relay. Open fuse box and feel which relay is ticking, they are normally black square boxes. Isolate the one that is making the noise, you may be able to swap it out for another relay that is not being used.
