SOURCE: idle low then hi, and gas smell, and bad gas mileage

This should show up easily on the ECU diagnostics computer at a mercedes dealership. Basically your fuel mixture is way too rich causing your car to be heavy on gas, have a raw gasoline smell, and not run right. Something like this can be caused by a defective oxygen sensor (but that usually produces a check engine light) or it might even be a defective ECU. There is really not way of knowing for sure until you do a proper diagnostics where they hook up your exhaust at the same time and do an emmission test. In most cases it's some sensor that needs replacing.

SOURCE: 2005 Chevy Impala exhaust smell

neither one of these would cause gas to leak. sure it is not coolant ? if you think it is gas it is not safe to drive car as it could catch on fire. possible cause would be a leaking injector.

SOURCE: gas leak and smell coming from top right rear side

Check to make sure its not a leak. If its a leak, there is a product at Most Auto part stores that will stop a leak even when its leaking gas. If this doesnt work, you would have to remove the tank for repair or replacement.

SOURCE: I have a gas smell that seems to be coming from engine compartmen

Get it out of the garage! Go over the entire fuel line(s) looking for any wet spots. Key on, but engine not running. Look carefully at joints of hose to piping and all along any hoses. Replace any hose that is hard or has cracks. Inspect the injectors for any leaking. NO open flames!!

SOURCE: gas smell

This is a nasty problem with this car. It is the smell of mostly Sulphur. It comes when the Catalytic Convertor gets faulty. Replace it and get Smell-free. Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

I have a raw gas smell comming from fuel tank area

There is a vent on some fuel tanks. As gas gets heated, either from the afternoon heat or from driving, it expands. If your tank is full or close to it, the vapors can escape through the filler tube or some have another vent tube near the filler tube

1994 Mercedes S600 right side engine has raw gas smell. Not the oxygen sensor.

I would check the fuel pressure regulator first, pull the vacuum hose off and see if there is fuel in the line,if so the diaphram has ruptured and raw fuel is being sucked into the intake

Strong raw fuell smell inside the car intermitantly

Usually, what you smell inside the car is coming thru the vent from the engine compartment.
So it could be a leak around the engine or the vapor canister. Its possible the canister gets overloaded from time to time when the computer vents the gas tank to the canister. A very small leak can be a very strong smell inside the car.

check you exhaust. you may have a damaged cat or a broken baffle in the exhaust eather of these will stall the engine and you will have a strong smell of fuel.

Strong gas smell inside of car

is there a leak in your fuel line, or possibly your fuel filter, if you see raw gas leaking, then it is dangerous for you tio continue to drive it, it only takes one spark to ignite it, however, if the smell is just your car burning rich and the exhaust has holes in it, it will smell up the inside of your car. And yes if your carb. is burning too rich then it needs adjusted. Wasting your fuel, and overloading your engine. I hope some of this was helpfull.

My car has a strong gas smell on the right side of my car. We jacked it up and noticed it was wet underneath the car. My gas miles have been good & it doesnt look like im loosing any gas quick it just...

don't know year make model but if you can smell gas and you see wetness underneath you should have it checked out. a small leak even though your not loosing much gas can be deadly especially if vehicle is in a garage or closed area cause the gas vapor is more of a problem than raw gas. there are lots of places that the leak could be coming from tank, lines, filter, evap system or the charcoal canister. much better to be safe than sorry, no need to have a major problem (possibly life threatening) develop over something that may be able to be fixed before hand.

1994. MBz, s600. v-12. ASR. dashboard light.

To make sure the problem will be solved, you have to replace left and right ETA's and engine wiring harnes.I had the same problem with my 1994 S600. expensive.Mercedes had wiring problems on all models from 1992- 1996 (insulation on wires would crack, and wires would short circut).
