I am trying to remove the power window regulator and motor from the front passenger door on a 1998 VW Jetta. The motor is not working and the glass is stuck in the up position. How do I lower the glass to release it from the regulator?

remove wipers. remove plastic covering by loosening plastic screws first. unplug wiper motor wires. there are about three 10mm nuts at the motor location and you also have to unscrew the big nuts that were below the wipers when you unscrewed them. replacement is reversal.

I have the same Problem. I Simply cut into the middle of the boot between the door and body The broken wire was right there, I pulled each end out and held the wire there with a pair needle nose pliers, stripped the end with a knife and attach a mulyi-strand jumper between both ends with electrial wire twists. Leave 2" approx. then slip the boot back over them. Use # 14 Wire. A Quick reasonable fix. If brakes again repeat again. The new Haness will have the same Problem down the road.

I believe it's 1993-1998 that are the same. I'm not sure if you'd be close enough, but I'm actually parting out a 1998 Jetta, and have both rear doors. You can email me if you still need it. [email protected]

Removing the door panel on your jetta is fairly simple. Also just so you know that there was a recall on the jetta because of a problem with the window coming off the tracks. You may want to check and see if your vehicle was covered. remove window handle by twisting ring on base of handle and pulling off. Snap off cover plate on door handle and remove 2 outside screws on handle. Remove 3 or 4 screws on the bottom of door panel, from bottom of panel push up and panel will become free. There are a few things connected to the panel that need to be removed, They all unplug from door but remember where they go and how they came apart. If you are just trying to put the window back in there are 2 holes with rubber covers, open those and roll window down until you see window clamps, put in window and do not overtighten.if you want to get to the track you need to remove window handle assembely, door latch assembely, and large plate on door.now everything is exposed, you will clearly see the track and how it comes off and on
