2007 lexus ES 350 instument and shifter lights not working

Just had my 10,000 mile service a week ago (my wife's car -- not driven much) and last night when I went to drive home after dark for the first time since the service, the headlights came on, but the instrument panel and shifter lights would not. They only came on when the headlights were turned off. They should also be off then. This does not make sense. I just checked the owner's manual and don't see a fuse for just these items. I guess I'll check the fuse box. Any ideas?

Service lights

Well, let me just say that if you have gone 10,000 miles without servicing your brand-new Lexus, you are a LOT braver than I would ever be. I certainly do not have the gold available to pay for the possible consequeces of pulling that one off. When was the last time you even checked your engine oil level? I have seen MANY vehicles run completely out of oil between 3000 mile services and completely DESTROY the engines! 10,000 miles is REALLY taking HUGE chances!

You may have 2 separate problems...One for the oil needing service and one for a problem with your AWD system. However, Toyota and Lexus are known for disabling things like AWD, ABS, Traction Control, etc. when the engine computer detects things like low oil pressure or low oil levels. This can cause several warning lamps to all come on at the same time.

GET YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED!!! Hopefully, you will be one of the lucky ones and have not done any serious damage by not getting it serviced when you should have.

Your oil should be changed every 3000 miles (Or every 5000 miles if you are using full-synthetic oil). You should also check the oil level between services AT LEAST every 1000 miles (or more often, if you are having to add oil at 1000 miles). For a properly maintained vehicle, checking the oil level between oil changes SHOULD seem a total waste of time. However, it is the single, MOST IMPORTANT thing you can spend your time on when it comes to getting a lot of miles from your investment. If your engine starts using (burning) oil or if it starts leaking oil, you will not know about it in time to save your engine if you are not in the habit of checking it on a regular basis.

I have a 2007 ES350, 47K miles, few weeks ago a had 4 tires replaced @ discount tire & a full alginment service @ firestone auto shop, last week on friday the vsc light come on & the engine light...

I doubt very much this has anything to do with the tires or alignment. It sounds like you have misfiring in the engine, possibly because of a faulty sensor. The first thing to do is to check whether you still have a warranty with such low mileage - your dealer may fix it for free! If the warranty has expired, get a readout of the engine trouble code. The fix may be as simple as spraying throttle body cleaner into the Mass Airflow Sensor (careful - there are very fragile fine wires inside), or you may have a loose connection on the oxygen sensor (sometimes it gets bumped during an oil change on this model).

Bulbs are never covered under warranty because they are a wear item (like tires). The factory might do a courtesy repair if the car was near new.
Order the bulbs online and install them yourself. I believe the bulb is D2s, you can find them online for $30-$60.

I had the same problem with my 2007 RX350. Had the tires replaced under warranty because of this roaring noise and still had the same problem. Replaced the original equipment brand tires with a set of new michelins and the noise went away. This was 10,000 miles ago.

Maintenance Required message on. Purchased

this light can come on even thought service is not actually due. if the service was performed and the light was not on at the time, sometimes you cannot reset them if they are not actually lit, or 99% of the time the technician forgets if the light was not on. stop by your shop and they can reset it for you in just a few moments, and for no charge. good luck!

2007 Lexus ES

The next generation ES will have the 3.5L V6 engine from the Avalon. Lexus has already patented the ES 350 name. The question is whether horsepower will stay at 280 like the Avalon or will be bumped up to 300 or more like the upcoming IS350. One way to distinguish the 350 from the Avy is to give it a higher HP engine. Also, expect a new 6 speed auto to replace the current 5 speed auto.
