Tried starting my car. it turns over but will not start. i checked for spark, which it has. the belt is free, but it wont even start on ether. what else could the problem be?
Go out and turn the key to the on position and see if you hear a whine coming from around the gas tank which is the fuel pump priming the fuel system. You should be able to hear it from your seat, but if not, have somebody get down and look under the car to see if they hear it. If you don't hear anything, then it is most likely a fuel pump or possibly the fuel pump relay. Everytime I have not heard a noise, though it was not the relay.

First check fuel pressure before the fuel filter, then check the fuel pressure after the fuel filter, these filters are also the fuel regulator, if it is clogged then it will route the fuel back to the tank, fuel filter is around $60 for that car.
