SOURCE: Oil light stays on and truck wont tern on Doge Ram

If you replaced the distributor, it may be out of time. Find the firing timing mark on the harmonic damper and adjoining degree scale then mark those two points with white paint. Hook a timing light on #1 spark plug wire (driver's side front), and turn the engine over looking for the light flash to illuminate when the marks match up. Rotate the distributor until it does. If it is nowhere close, then you will have to align the distributor manually by removing #1 plug, turn the engine CW with a wrench on the crankshaft bolt while keeping a finger in the plug hole and continue until the cylinder is building compression--at the point, remove your finger and keep turning the engine until the timing marks line up. Check the rotor of the distributor which should be pointing at the #1 plug wire position in the cap. If way off, the distributor needs to be removed and turn the shaft until the rotor points correctly when the unit is reinstalled. Final adjustment is then accomplished by rotating the body of the distributor. Whew! Hope this gets you running.

SOURCE: My 2001 intrepid won't start.

Hi,

Could you tell me exactly what is happening when you say that the car wont start?

Is the engine not turning over or is it not firing, or trying to run?

Let me know then I can try to narrow this down for you.

Thanks

Jason

SOURCE: Truck does Not Start, No

Ignition Module REMOVAL & INSTALLATION The engine controller is the computer/microprocessor that regulates all ignition functions. All other models (1989-96) employ a 60-way connector. The 1989 models (only) employ an additional 14-way connector. In most cases, the engine controller is mounted in the engine bay to the firewall or a fender. Some early models mount the engine controller in an air duct mounted on the inside left fender. Access to these units hidden in the air duct requires some dismantling of the air duct to get to them. WARNING
Do not remove the grease from the 14-way connector or the connector terminal in the computer. The grease is used to prevent corrosion of the terminals. There should be at least a 1?8 in. (3.1mm) coating of grease on the bottom of the connector terminals. If not, apply a liberal coating of Mopar Multi-purpose grease No. 2932524, or equivalent, over the entire end of the connector plug.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner duct from the controller, if equipped.
  3. Remove the three module retaining screws.
  4. Remove the 14-way (1989 models) and 60-way connectors from the controller. NOTE: Check the 14-way and 60-way connectors for damaged or bent pins (and correct if any are found) prior to plugging it in.
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal.

1994 chevy z71 k1500 4x4 have a crank no start replaced fuel pump relay now have fuel now have no spark! RELPACED plugs no spark hwlp ?

no spark at all spark plugs and the main spark COIL 1 terminal?
1994 is old car, old old Chevy OBD1 PCM.
check all fuses first
then see the service manual, to do the DLC jumper wire trick
to get the FLASH codes out of the PCM.(ECM)
steps
The Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) connector or Data Link Connector (DLC)
jumper A to B
KEY ON, not started
The Service Engine Soon or Check Engine light should be flashing.
if CEL lamp bulb is dead,it must be replaced.in IP cluster
The code(s) stored in memory may be read through counting the flashes of the dashboard warning lamp. The dash warning lamp should begin to flash Code 12.
Code 12 NOT and error, all others seen are DTC errors.
if none happen crank engine for 5 seconds, release key see errors now.
42/43 code bad spark see manual
21./22 bad TPS

not told you is what the big spark coil does all by itself
if your Distrib has HEI, the coil main HV is buried inside..
tricky to test.
if spark really dead. the whole rebuilt distrib is best.cure.
NO ENGINE of 5 told and is an Engine question, above is 94 generic.
here are 4 gas engines then with external spark coil pack
we take a new spark wire and plug.
connect it to HVcoil pack tower lugs.
ground the spark plug shell
and crank test the coil, for spark if fails
bad fuses
bad dizzy
bad ecm
or bad coil and is less cost than all but fuses.

Why wont my 2002 olds alero start when its cold out

One of the coil packs or the ignition module is probably bad. Test for spark when cold. If no spark on any coils suspect the ignition module or crank position sensor. If spark is gone on only one coil check the plugs and wires to that coil pack. If theplugs and wires are ok then replace thge coil pack. Don't forget the obvious load test the battery and clean the battery connections. If the check engine light is on run any diagnostic codes and repair

2004 dodge dakota in limp mode wont go past 2000 rpm P2305 code comes on check engine light comes on can reset code but light stays on and wont go past 2000 rpm

Since you didn't say what engine you have, I am assuming it to be a 3.7 L. Code P2305 is set for insufficient ionization of the #2 coil. 1. Inspect the spark plugs for correct application, these should have NGK platinum spark plugs installed. Inspect the plugs for any signs of misfiring, such as carbon tracking on the spark plug insulator or the coil boot. Inspect for cracked spark plugs or incorrect gap. Inspect for any kind of fouling on the spark plugs. Replace the spark plugs or the coils as needed.

2. Verify the wiring is not shorted to ground from the coils to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

3. Keep in mind that anything that can affect the air fuel mixture can cause this code to set. Be SURE that there are NO vacuum leaks, the injector is not at fault, etc. Moving parts one at a time (spark plug; coil; injector) to "known good" cylinders is the best way to diagnose this trouble code.

Suzuki wagon r+gl check engine light keeps flashing and wont start after battery change

the engine (there are more than one engine)
has a distributor.
"have spark at coil down to dizzy but no spark at plugs"
this can mean only 2 things.
1: spark wires are dead. all 4, kinda hard to believe huh?
2: the dizzy is way off time. so time the dizzy and now spark
lands on each wire term.
if not a dizzy engine, post exact version of engine and country.

First while running engine light came on. Turned off. Now will crank but will not start.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

From start to end troubleshooting these problems I suggest you to check the help link below and follow its procedure: -----

Mostly all types of car no start problems are discussed here with solutions:---

CAR NO START: ENGINE NOT TURNING OVER:

---------

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

For more help, I suggest you to refer the help link provided below. These will let you know more about which areas to look, check, when there is engine light coming up on dash panel.

Car keeps giving p0303 code.

Code P0303 means that there is a misfire detected on cylinder #3. This could becaused by anything from a worn out spark plug to a blown cylinder head gasket, a faulty fuel injector, a bad ignition coil, or a leaking intake manifold gasket. I have also seen this type of code caused by clogged-up EGR ports in the intake manifold on certain engines. "Freeze Frame Data" stored in your Engine computer along with the fault code is designed to help identify what engine conditions (high speed/slow speed, heavy load/light load, etc.) are producing the misfire. This helps a lot in identifying exactly what is causing the cylinder to misfire.

One way to eliminate some of the possible causes is to swap parts with another cylinder to see if the code changes.

If you have "Coil-On-Plug" ignition, you can swap the coil on #3 cylinder with the coil on #4 Cylinder and swap the #3 spark plug with the #2 spark plug. Then clear the codes and drive the car till the Check Engine (or Service Engine Soon) light comes back on.

If it still gives you P0303, then it is not being caused by the plug or the coil. It could be any of the other possible causes listed above.
If it now gives you P304, replace the bad ignition coil that is now on #4 cylinder.
If it now gives you P302, Then replacement of all the spark plugs is recommended.

Make sure battery has a full charge. Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse.
